Chips: 1,645 | | help with a Dunes replica set So I'm finally getting a set of chips--the plastic Dunes replicas.
I can afford to get 1000-1200 of them, and they have 10 different denoms:
.25
.50
1
5
25
100
500
1000
5000
25000
So what I'd like to have is a set that can accommodate both cash games and deep-stack-fun tournaments. (No more than 10 players for both scenarios.)
I'd also like to own some of every denom, but I'm willing to only own a token amount of the denoms that I really don't need if that's what's best.
I just read about TonyPap's tourney structure and I think I dig it: http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/tourna...tourney-2.html
Seems like I could adopt a similar tourney outlook and use the rest of the chipset for cash play...
I ask just in case someone has done something similar and has advice... I've read the breakdown articles and will continue to re-read and attempt to plan this out also. And if I may ask a stupid question: What does the "T" stand for when discussing tourney structures? (T1000, T5000, etc) I mean, I understand the context of the what's being discussed, just wondering about the T.
Thanks for any help! |

Thanks for any help! | IIRC it stands for Tournament to distinguish between cash & tournament value. |

T=Tourney value
$=Cash value |

Chips: 1,645 | | | Re: help with a Dunes replica set Ok, after sorting through other threads this is where I'm at:
.25 120
.50 10 (just to have a few)
1 250
5 100
25 120
100 160
500 120
1,000 80
5,000 20
25,000 20
That's 1000 chips. I can afford to get another 100 or so... should I just add 10 to each number or are there specific areas that would benefit from an upgrade?
With the price Jim is offering on these things I'll still have enough to get a birdcage. |

Chips: 1,037 | | | Re: help with a Dunes replica set What kind of cash games will you be playing? I might suggest getting a few more 5s if you want to play some 1/2 NL.
Also, I don't think it would ever hurt to have more 100s or 500s for your T5000 tourney, especially the 100s; they'll be the workhorses. |

So I should up the 5s, 100s, and 500s... any other opinions out there?
Thanks, links_slayer! |

25,000 20 | While I agree it would be nice to have a few of each denom, having to order 25 (as mentioned above) "just to have them" wouldn't be the route I take. Then again, it's not my set.
120 quarters and 250 dollars should be more than enough for a 10 player .25/.50 cash game; the dollars will be the go-to chips. For 1/2 NL, more $5s would be nice IMO.
What starting stacks are you using for the T5000 tourney? What you currently have listed (120 x T25; 160 x T100; 120 x T500; and 80 x T1000) can easily accomodate these stacks:
*edit* Might have to make this 125-175-125-100 to meet the 25 chip increment requirement
8 x T25
13 x T100
5 x T500
1 x T1000 | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
