Chips: 13 | | | chip breakdown for 8 max cashgame hello!
i'm thinking about buying "real" chips instead of these coin inlay 11,5grams i use now. so i was hoping for a little advice on chip breakdown.
i will mainly be playing 8 player cashgame with 2/4 blinds. but i would also like the chip set to be flexible so i also could play 1/2 and 5/10, and perhaps with a few more players, therefore i think the best would be to buy non denomination chips. the buyin in these games are 100 x the big blind
i've been reading posts here about breakdown and most seem to deversify the amount of chips in each color greatly. ex 100, 250, 80, 70.
i was actually thinking about buying:
160 - gray
160 - red
160 - blue
20 - green
(colors are just for example)
with this breakdown i will in a 2/4 game be having
gray - 2
red - 10
blue - 50
green - 500
(the green chips are just for shits and giggles on this level)
in a 1/2 game:
gray - 1
red - 5
blue - 20
green - 100
and in a 5/10 game
gray - 5
red - 20
blue - 100
gray - 500
what do you think? |

Chips: 73 | | | Re: chip breakdown for 8 max cashgame You should have more "workhorse" chips than any other. The workhorse tend to be the second chip in, (in a 1/2 game the 5 chip is the work horse, the 1's are mainly for blinds and small raises, but the majority of raises happening witht the $5's). Usually the bottom chip is just a blind chip so you don't need a ton of them, with 8 max 12 chips per person gives you 96, so your lowest denom chip get 100 or 120, get 240 of the workhorse chip, 120 of the next and the last whatever fills in the difference. Gives you plenty of cash on the table and you'll have plenty of chips in play.
I know I keep spouting this, but this is my breakdown of my cash game Samurais
100 - 25¢
240 - $1
120 - $5
40 - $20
I'm guessing you are from Europe with the use of the comma in your description (11,5 grams) instead of the period (I love punctuation, don't ask...I don't know either), so the $ does not apply to you, but you get the jist from my breakdown.

Chips: 13 | | | Re: chip breakdown for 8 max cashgame while i was thinking about it maybe it is overkill with 160 blue. perhaps this is a better layout.
if ill use the 2/4 game (that is our game of choice right now) as example
the starting buyin will then be:
20 gray (2)
16 red (10)
4 blue (50)
so the rebuys will be 10 red and 6 blue for the three first rebuys then the rebuys will just be 8 blue. i think that it's enough with chips for 10 rebuys and if someone want to do a rebuy after that they can use the gray 500 chips. (im also thinking about using 500 as buyin for exchange simplification reasons because that is the normal bill we us as buyin)
the breakdown would with this layout be:
165 gray
165 red
105 blue
65 green
(i have a few more than needed on every color so that some could be missplaced or break)
this would give me a more flexible breakdown so i can maybe use it for tournaments to, no? |
