Chips: 2,139 | | | Breakdown Help needed OK breakdown guru's, get a load of this requirement.
Cash set to play 25c/50c NL, 50c/$1 NL or up to 1/2 FL for ten people with $100 max buy in.
Tourney set for T1000 for up to 16 people.
The tourney set and the cash set do not need to be different.
Ideally no more than 1000 chips total.
Go.

You say "The tourney set and the cash set do not need to be different.
"
Does that mean the chips will be in use in a cash game OR a tourney and not used in a side cash game whilst the touney is still running? |

Assume they won't be needed at the same time.

Chips: 18,645 | | | Re: Breakdown Help needed One question is: do you want a 25˘ chip and a 50˘ chip, or just go with 25˘ chips? I'm assuming you just want a single small chip, a quarter. (And what's with the dollars and not quid?)
So on the low end, I'd start with only 100 x 25˘. Maybe you want a few more like 120-150, but no more than that. Save your chip-buying money for larger denoms, even if you have to make change for blinds once in a while at the table.
Next question: rebuys or not. I'll assume a couple of rebuys or the ability to have a tourney of 20 people. Also assume that you'll color up the $5 chips in the tourney before you use them in a side cash game.
Now you say start with T1000, so you really only need $100 chips as your largest. But of course we may want to buy higher denoms because they're neat . . . then you could have a bigger stack in your tourney just for fun.
But sticking with your stated requirements, I'd have a starting tourney stack of:
10 x $5
10 x $25
7 x $100
total 27 chips for T$1,000 -- 100 x BB with starting blinds at 5/10.
And I'd buy this set for both cash and tourney:
100 x 25˘
260 x $1
200 x $5
240 x $25
200 x $100
total 1,000 chips.
Sounds pretty cool man, have fun! |

Chips: 2,139 | | | Re: Breakdown Help needed Thanks Tom,
For some reason I think that chips look better with dollar symbols on them.
I like the breakdown that you've given me. having no more than 5 denoms gives me a cost break although I'd like to add more denoms later. I think that I'll add 200 NCVs to the breakdown to give some flexibility and because I like the pink chips that I designed.
Pulling the trigger soon.

I got 100 wiht my set and I think it sucks i would have rather had 120 for .25/.50 NL. |

And what you've pointed out is only relevant if there's always only 10 players. Many home games are smaller. And surely if there's chips left over you can just make the max buy in in your game $xx.50 if you're that concerned about unused chips? |

Chips: 6 | | | Re: Breakdown Help needed Is 120 quarters really enough for a 10 person .25/.50 NL game?
I'm also putting together a cash set for stakes anywhere from .25/.50 to 1/2, but am concerned about the number of quarters. In the 1/2 NL game I frequently play at most bets are in multiples of $5 so $1 chips are basically just for blinds. Starting stacks come with 10 of the $1 chips and the rest in $5 chips. That seems to follow the guidelines I generally see on this forum, but we are constantly having to make change. I can see it being even worse when the small denomination chip is used for bets as well as blinds like 3 betting for $1.50 in a .25/.50 game. Is my experience at my local game just unusual? |

Chips: 14,514 | | | Re: Breakdown Help needed 10 person cash game - up to $100 buy in - you probably want $2000-$2500 in cash available (note: not a problem if you put $ on your tourney chips)
120 x 25c ($30)
220 x $1 ($220)
100 x $5 ($500)
60 x $20 ($1200) or 60 x $25 ($1500)
For a seperate touney set - consider a T5000-T10000 game
120 x T25
160 x T100 (10 extra here for cash)
120 x T500
80 x T1000
20 x T5000
