Chips: 1,987 | | | What denom should I add to my ASM cash set? Hello all,
I have the following ASM cash set breakdown (designed for 10 but can be stretched to more):
200 25c
100 50c
400 1
400 5
150 20
50 100
I am contemplating topping up my 20s and 100s and adding a 500 as well. In addition, I am also considering another medium denom...a 2, 2.5, 3 or 10. I don't 'need' it, but when has that been a legitimate reason not to get chips on this site?
My question is, were I to add said medium denom, which would I add, how many, and why?
Thanks in advance | | Sponsored Links | |

I would only add a $3 if you play $6-$12 or $9-$18
or the $10 if you are playing $20-$40 |

Add 100 or 200 $2's
For a cash set - you really gonna ever use a $500 - maybe get quantity 10 or 20 of them for giggles.
I like the breakdown you're working with.

Yeah, the 500s are really for show and I was only thinking of getting 20-40. I imagine only a couple may come into play in a 2/5NL game where things are loose and the chips are flying.
How would you incorporate the 2 in terms of a specific limit and/or NL game? How many would you give out?
Thanks, re: my breakdown...your articles were consulted many times before I made my decisions. Quote:

Chips: 14,790 | | | Re: What denom should I add to my ASM cash set? For me to incorporate a $2 - they're more for uniqueness than anything. We play 25c/50c NL and nearly universally we buy in for $20 to start. Some guys will only ever buy in $20 at a time, others will buy $40 or $60 when there's a big stack out there.
If I had a $2 I wouldn't use them all the time, just every once in a while
Start with
12x25c
9x$1
4x$2
Use $1 and $2 for rebuys. This way bets look bigger than they are due to the lower value chips. Keep the $5s in the rack every once in a while.
Makes it a little different than the usual 12x25c, 12x$1 and 1x$5 we usually do.
Thanks for the complements on the articles.

If you are running a 2-5 game you may just want to give each player 5-10 $2's to use to post SB's. That would effectively take your $1's out of play in that game and make it a littel cleaner... ie, someone throws out the $2 chip for their SB and calls someone elses bet, or the BB, they just pull back the $2 and throw out a $5. |

Chips: 93 | | | Re: What denom should I add to my ASM cash set? I usually play .25/.50 NL with a weekly group. I'm the 'chip guy/banker' and use a set of the ceramic Condado Beach. I stick with a 500 chip case, we always play somewhere other than my house (golf course or pool hall).
I have my case setup with 17-$20 buy-ins pre-arranged with the following break down:
6 - 0.25
7 - 0.50
8 - 1.00
1 - 2.00
5 - 5.00
This allows for extra room for about (+/-) 40 - 1.00, 30 - 5.00, 20 - 2.00, 15 - 10.00, 5 - 20.00, 4 - 25, 2 - 100.00. I use the 20's, 25's and 100's for chipping up people at near the end to help the payout go quicker and keeping the money in the game. I use the 2.00 chip primarily for the extra extra space it leaves in the chip case for the extra chips and 2.00 is a fairly common bet in our game.

Chips: 9,391 | | | Re: What denom should I add to my ASM cash set? For the games you seem to play, you don't really need any more chips. But, like you said, this is Chiptalk, and when did need ever really come into it.
Get a rack or two of $2 chips and use them for the small blind when you play 2/5 NL. If you don't play blackjack, the 2.50 chips are useless, unless you want to play 2.5/5 NL, I suppose.
So I would go with some $2 chips and some $500s if you really want to.
