Chips: 195 | | | heads up chip breakdown Youve all seen these mini sets of 100 chips in a nice case, called a "heads up set". What type of breakdown should I use? 2 denoms or 3? Suggestions are welcome... I was thinking of paulson private cardrooms, maybe 100s and 500s. What do you think?

Chips: 2,924 | | | Re: heads up chip breakdown Sounds good. I tried doing one with 3 denoms and it works okay so long as the blinds go up and you colour-up the lowest denom. But really, all you need is two denoms.
HPC has a nice deal for 100-chip heads-up sets (including the "mahogany" case and a setup of plastic cards) for any set they carry. Here's a link: http://www.holdempokerchips.com/prod...p?prod=BTSET05
Unfortunately, you can't get the privates, but you could get the shaped-inlay "Tophat & Cane", or Mardi Gras, or Samurais (when they come back in stock), or Speakeasy, or Egyptians, or Pharoahs, or National Poker Series, or ... |

Do most people give each person 50 chips? If so, what denoms?

25s and 100s or 25c and 1s
40 x 25c = $10
10 x $1 = $10
$20 heads ups.

I have always loved the secondary 100 and 500 PNY chip config. Want a HU set of those....... A second rack of the 1000's would be so sick. And $$ |

Chips: 18,645 | | | Re: heads up chip breakdown We play heads up with 2 denominations and no color-ups.
Two stacks of the lower denom and one stack of the next denom, assuming the next denom is 5 (or 4) times the lower denom. It's easy to get them out of the racks. For example, 40 x $5 and 20 x $25, for 60 chips each. Blinds start at $5/$10. (Or use any other chips: 1/5, 25/100, 100/500, 1000/5000, whatever).
This gives you a starting stack with 60 or 70 x BB, just right for heads up IMO.
With a case for 100 chips, I would go with 30 small & 20 large chips each. |

T2000 heads up starting 25/50 blinds | Agreed. This is the best 100-chip breakdown.
I always just start over with the same stacks. Add-ons get silly, 'cause if one person wins twice in a row, the other guy starts with an nearly impossible disadvantage... Play best 2-out-of-3 or best-of-seven or something like that, starting over each time.
For 8-player and 16-player double-elimination heads-up tournaments, I've done something a little different... but it would take a while to explain (and you need a full tournament set of chips). |

T2000 heads up starting 25/50 blinds | My only concern with that is you're starting with a BB that's only 1/40th of your stack, which is a little too fast for my taste even in heads-up. You could easily raise pre-flop, make a continuation bet after the flop, fold to a big re-raise, and have lost almost 1/3 of your stack on the first hand. With 40 x BB I don't think you have enough room to play. Just my 2¢.... | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
