help decide on chip breakdown, everything given just can't figure out how to do it

Game Type: Cash
SB: 0.25c (looking to possibly change)
BB: 0.50c (looking to possibly change)
Buy-in: $25.00 (might increase)
Re-buy: $15.00
Total Chips: 1000 (600 white, 200 red, 200 black-faux)
People: 5-8 (at most 10, but unlikely)

Just purchased the faux chips earlier today, hoping they come before thursday. If they arrive in time I might be able to dye 200 white chips blue. But i'd like to keep it at 3 colors, especially with only ~6 people.

I was thinking:
40 x 0.25c = $10.00-total white chips: 40*6=240 out of 600
10 x $1.00 = $10.00-total red chips: 10*6=60 out of 200
1 x $5.00 = $5.00-total black chips: 1*6-6 out of 200
-Go from there switching out small (value) chips for larger (value) chips as the night progresses and chip stacks increase.

What i'm wondering, and hoping, is if we should lower the SB/BB because of the format given, as well as, the chip values.
-If this had been a $50 buy in game, I think those figures would've worked nicely, but it's not.
--I'm trying to figure out what values would work nicely for smaller SB/BB and in the process lowering the value of the chips. Especially with the amount of chips available.

any input is appreciated

I'd suggest:

8 25c (black)
18-28 $1 (white)
2 $5's if you want $50

This would give you $20-$50 chips/person to start. Use up all the remaining $1's for rebuys (don't put any more quarters on the table...the $1's are your horses). Once the $1's are gone, go for the $5 red chips.

I run a $10 buy-in .25/.50 cash ring game, and use my Tiki's to great effect.

$10= 20x$.25 + 5x$1

Once my 260 quarters are gone, I only issue $1 to re-buyers.

It's not that uncommon to play with just 100 x small blind, which is what your $25 buy-in with 25c/50c blinds suggests.

I'm a big fan of keeping white:red always in a 1:5 ratio. I would suggest trying this and seeing if it flies:

black = 25c = 1/2 unit
white = 50c = 1 unit
red = $2.50 = 5 units

Your unit is essentially a 50c piece.

Hand out

10 black @ 25c = $2.50
20 white @ 50c = $10.00
5 red @ $2.50 = $12.50

That's 35 chips for $25. Most of them being the workhorse white chips. If people prefer more whites in play, you can adjust it.

Small blind = 1 black chip, big blind = 1 white chip, and bets that are multiples of the big blind are just more white chips. So you won't need too many of the black chips on the table.

Note that if you prefer to scale down the game, you can use your white unit valued at 20c instead.

black = 10c = 1/2 unit
white = 20c = 1 unit
red = $1.00 = 5 units

Game plays the same way, but your buy-in would be less, maybe something like $15 buy-in:

10 black @ 10c = 1.00
30 white @ 20c = 6.00
8 red @ 1.00 = 8.00

Still, small blind = 1 black, big blind = 1 white.

I am a big fan of nondenominated chips for this very reason. Your chip set is very flexible.
