Chips: 4 | | | Cash set for 3 different stakes Hi,
I'm planning on getting a 500 chip set exclusively for cash games. No Limit 6 handed. I want to be able to play the following stakes:
$0.25 / $0.50
$0.50 / $1
$1/$2
I know this sounds kind of ambitious but I want to have my chip set as flexible as possible.
Here's my planned configuration:
150 x $0.25
150 x $1
150 x $5
50 x $25
To be distributed as follow (6 players / 100 big blinds each):
$0.25 / $0.50
==============
20 x $0.25
20 x $1
5 x $5
Total per player = $50
$0.50 / $1
==============
20 x $0.25
20 x $1
15 x $5
Total per player = $100
$1/$2
==============
25 x $1
25 x $5
2 x $25
Total per player = $200
I think I did a pretty good job on my configuration but I want to hear advice from the experts here before I shed up $600 on a set of chips. What most interests me is that the game runs smoothly without players constantly having to ask for change, but also without breaking my bank with a 1000 chip set. The most I'm willing to buy is 600.
Please share your opinions and help me with my decision. (At least I have a few weeks to think it through before the Samurais are in stock again).
Any input is highly appreciated. |

Chips: 49 | | | Re: Cash set for 3 different stakes If you can get a set with an NCV chip, you could use that as either 25¢ or 50¢ and cut down those to 100, then add 50 to yur $1's. If not, your breakdown looks cool.

Chips: 18,645 | | | Re: Cash set for 3 different stakes WAY too many quarters for a 6-handed game. You should have no more than 100, and you can get away with ever fewer. It would be better to have 50¢ chips instead of quarters, but if you have your set picked out you're limited.
I'd have a few more $1s and fewer 25¢. The $5s and $25s look OK.
Of course, we recently had a 9-handed 1-2 game with over $4,000 on the table, so each group of players is different.... |

I agree too many quarters.
Even if you start with 20 each six handed - the most you'll need is 120.
For a 500 chip set - $2330 or $2030 to have in play.
120 x 25c = $30
200 x $1 = $200
120 x $5 = $600
60 x $25 = $1500 or 60 x $20 = $1200
This will be my breakdown for a 600 chip set of ASMs when I get around to starting the order
160 x 25c
240 x $1
140 x $5
60 x $20

I think this is a great set up...
160 1$
140 5$
80 20$
20 100$
I am using 20 dollar chips b/c...in all honesty i hate the 25 dollar cash game chip. Think about it...people buy in usually with 20 dollar bills, give them a 20 dollar chip. we are also use to using 1 dollar, 5, and 20 dollar bills...also adds variety. /rant.
okay so, if i need quarters i'm thinking of just using my faux clays as a NVC. so if you really want quarters you can get 100 or how many you need...anyway..for the games...
25c 50 c... 25 min 50 max
12 25c FC/nvc = $3
12 1$ = 12
2/7 5$ = 10/35
= 26 chips for 25 bucks and 31 chips for 50
50c 1$....50 min 100 max
10 50c FC/nvc = 5
15 1$ = 15
6/8 5 = 30/40
0/2 20 = 40
= 31 chips for 50 bucks, 35 chips for 100 bucks
1$ 2$...... 100 min 200 max
15 1$ = 15
13 5$ = 65
1/6 20$ = 20/120
= 29 chips for 100 bucks, 34 chips for 200 bucks
the 100s could come in for rebuys and same with the rest of the 20's.
I actually may make a post in a day or so about these chips..thinking of going bcc or asm.
anyone...let me know what you think of the set up. thanks a lot |

Chips: 4 | | | Re: Cash set for 3 different stakes Thanks for the input guys. I'm now leaning to the following setup:
100 x $0.25
200 x $1
175 x $5
25 x $25
I liked the idea of the NCV for flexibility, but I don't want there to be any doubt about the value of a chip at my games.
Here's a link to my spreadsheet... what do u guys think? http://users.onelinkpr.net/agc1976/P...hipsetcash.xls |

For a full-size table, you wouldn't want to short yourself on $5s, but with only 6 players, 150 of them should be plenty. Just make sure you don't run out of high denoms, as you always want people to be able to donate more of their money. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
