T3000 breakdown?

Ready to buy chips (Paulson PCR) and start playing at my house in the near future. The group I play with plays a T3000 tournament with 3K re-buys, which almost everyone does (+90%) and an occasional T5000 no re-buy. They have been using a 8/8/2/1 breakdown for some reason but I'd like to try something different. The number of players will vary from 12 to 20, with an average of 15-16. I'd like to get them in my 700 chip case, 8x75 + 2x50 or I'm considering the 750 chip wood case. Other than the possible simple 8/8/4 count, I'm considering something that will put more $25 chips on the table so there is less need to make change and have a feeling of a bigger stack but not so many as to get in the way and still be able to get 95-100% of them in my case. I've primarily been looking at 12/7/4.

12 x $25, x20 =240, buy 250
7 x $100 x 20 =140 + 60 color up =200, buy 225
4 x $500 x 20 =80 + ? # color up, buy 125
3 x $1000 x 20 =60 re-buy, buy 60 or less, see below

Total 660 but I'd probably get only 50 1K's as we never color up anywhere near all the $100's and I'd add 25 Blue NCV Pharaoh's as a re-buy chip or a possible higher denomination chip. Everything added together leaves romm for 25 more chips in my 700 case.

What do you guys think?

Also considering 12/12/3 and 16/11/3 (a nice even 30 chips but I'd be limited to 17 players worth of chips and still be able to get them all in my case)

Re: T3000 breakdown?

I give T3000 in my sit and go side tournaments during the main tournaments around my area.

The break down I go with is:
8x25
8x100
4x500

20Chips fits nicely into a chip rack.

If you say want to go for 700chips for 25players:
200 25's (Greens)
250 100's (Blacks)
150 500's (Purple)
50 1000's (Yellow)probably not absolutely necessary.
50 NCV (any other colour) use as rebuys/bountys/what ever

Now say if you go with
12 25
7 100
3 500

You will need:
300 25's
250 100's
125 500's
25 1000's (all you have left)

The reason I have bought for 25players is that games can expand so its best to plan to buy too many than have too few as I found out a while back. I've now got enough chips for 75players although most tournaments are only about 50players.

I also use the same T3000 starting chip breakdown as USIreland for the same reason, fits nicely into chip racks so the re-buys can be prepared before hand and can be stored and given out with minimum fuss.
