Chips: 17 | | | Chip breakdown for .50/$1 NLHE hey guys - soon im throwing a .50/$1 no limit cash game for 10 people. i am trying to figure out the best chip breakdown so that a.) people wont have too many, but enough chips to make it look good - and b.) not too many chips so that i have to buy upwards of 1000 chips to make it work.
ive been throwing around a lot of ideas, but right now im around this -
6x - $5
10x - $1
20x - $.25
360 chips, which isnt bad.
the reason i go with the $.25 chips is for the small blind - although i could also just make the blinds $.50-$1 to make it easier.
any suggestions? |

Chips: 1,987 | | | Re: Chip breakdown for .50/$1 NLHE I have a cash game setup for 10 and for 50c/$1 give out
10 50c
40 $1
11 $5 for $100
but you certainly don't that many $1s for a smooth game...I have 400 $1s so I just put them all into play...the kids like the big stacks...
I would say you could go with:
10 50c
20 $1
5-15 $5 (5 for a $50 buyin to 15 for $100)
For 50c/$1 the 50c chip is only required for the small blind so you don't need many. You could even get away with only 6 or 8 50c chips.
For a 10 person setup with the above intended breakdown, get
100 50c
200 $1
150 $5
50 $20 or $25 for reloads.
for 500 chips total. |

Chips: 2,654 | | | Re: Chip breakdown for .50/$1 NLHE For .5/1 I'd go with a 50$ minimum buy-in and 20-.5, 20-1$ and 4-5$ to start. Add on after that should be 20-1$ and 6-5's. So if everyone bought in for 100$ you'd need 200-.5's, 400-1"s and 110-5's. You could get away with 100-.5's and use more 5's but my set has 200-.5 , 400-1$, 200-5's, 60-25's and 40-100's. 900 total. You might get away with less 25's and 100's. But for rebuys you can use the rest of your 5's and some 25's.

Chips: 51 | | | Re: Chip breakdown for .50/$1 NLHE bluffedby27offsuit:
I run a weekly .50/$1 NLHE cash game.
This is the setup I use, and it has worked out great.
Typical buy ins are from $20.00 - $80.00.
Starting Stacks:
.50 chips = $5 worth (10 chips)
$1 chips = $20 worth (20 chips)
$5 chips = Fill out rest of buy in with these (0 - 10 chips)
$25 chips = color up when stacks get large. Also used for rebuys.
Average $50 buy in = 10 (.50) + 20 ($1) + 5 ($5) = 26 chips * 10 players = 260 chips.
The $1 chip is the workhorse in this game, and should be highest in quantity. The $5's come into play a lot as well.
Whatever stakes you are playing, have the smallest chip = the small blind, and have as little of those chips in play, just enough for people to post the SB without making change every hand.
I hope this helps out. |

Chips: 294 | | | Re: Chip breakdown for .50/$1 NLHE We play once a month $0.50/$1 (blinds) NL cash game.
Max buyin $100.
Our chip breakdown (alternative)
6x - $.50 (10x)
12x - $1 (10x)
12x - $5 (12x)
1x - $25 (1x)
Total $100
400 chip set (allows rebuys etc.)
100x - $.50
140x - $1
140x - $5
20x - $25
We don't like $.50 chips... |

Chips: 2,938 | | | Re: Chip breakdown for .50/$1 NLHE You don't need many of the smallest (SB) denom chips.
I would avoid the .25 chip entirely and go with a .50 chips, since they are really only needed for the SB to be posted.
You won't need more than 100 of those as tastic put in those suggested sets.
Even though you stated you didn't want a large set, we play NLHE at the same stakes you mentioned and our 1000 set is 100x/.50 - 600x/$1 - 200x/$5 - 100x/$25 and it works great for a reloading full 9 player table with dealer, but we don't even come even close to using the higher end chips.
I would suggest for a 500 piece set:
100x - $.50 - $50
300x - $1 - $300
100x - $5 - $500
At a 10 player table if everyone buys in for $50 to start they could get:
10x - $.50
30x - $1
5x - $5 (or just use the $5 to fill in the buy in amount)
Wait, I scrolled back and that is exactly what tastic posted. Doh! |

Chips: 14,790 | | | Re: Chip breakdown for .50/$1 NLHE Go with a non denom low end chip - so it can be used for 25c or 50c.
An elegant 400 chip set.
120 x Non-denom ($30 or $60 in play) Rally small blind only
200 x $1 = $200
80 x $5 = $400
20 x $20 = $400
$1030 or $1060 in play - should be good for a home game
If you can bump to 500 chips
120 x non-denom
200 x $1
140 x $5
40 x $20
$1730 or $1760 in play.
For the hell of it - 300 chips
80 x Non Denom
120 x $1
80 x $5
20 x $20
$940 or $960 in play

Chips: 199 | | | Re: Chip breakdown for .50/$1 NLHE I try to keep 'standard' colors/denoms, since we not only play .50/1.00 but .25/.50 as well.
8x.25
18x1.00
That's $20. Up to $50, use the $5 chips
6x5.00
then use more $5 or $25 if the buyin is $100
rebuys I use only the $5 chips, or $25 chips after the first few. |

Chips: 47 | | | Re: Chip breakdown for .50/$1 NLHE We play a lot of .25/50, .50/$1 and $1/$2 NL. The $1 chip is the one I've had to order more of. In most games, if you're using fractionals it will get raised to a buck quickly and often. I have found 1/2 to be a good blind structure. A little less fishing sometimes and easy chip structure. 20 $1 chips and 16 $5 chips for a $100 buy-in. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
