Okay so I bought a 300pc chip case so that I could carry a small cash game set to use in a side game. I run tournaments at cabins in the area and one of the guys who attends my Thursday night game asked me to run a game and asked if I would bring some cash chips for afterward.
The game would be .05¢/.10¢ NLHE or .05¢-$1 spread limit. Buy-in $5min-$15max. Usually 10 players or less (if more were coming and I knew about it I would take a 500pc case, this 300pc case is small, light, and easy to keep track of!)
So that got me to thinking about the breakdown....here is what I took.
.05¢ x 155 = $7.75
25¢ x 155 = $38.75
$1 x 40 = $40
---------
Total = $86.50
It worked well. I was the only one who bought in for $10, everyone else bought in for $5. There were 8 players and at the end of the night there was $60 in play.
Now my concern is what to do if more people rebuy or more players buy in for more than the min. (Which I think will happen as more of these guys play in cash games.)
So what would be the best thing to add on? I have room for 40 more chips. My first thought is $40 ones. But is that most efficient way to go? Should I look into adding a $2, a $2.50, or maybe a $5 (I have all of those for my non travelling cash set). Or should I look at evening the lower denoms out first then worry about the higher denoms?
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

So 390 chips total? You have 350 listed and have room for 40 more?
5c x 140 ($7)
25c x 160 ($40)
$1 x 80 ($80)
$5 x 10 ($50)
$177 total - should be good

390 is right....unless I start cutting the bottom of the case. I found I can squeeze 2 rows of 20 chips where both decks of cards should be kept. Then each I made each of the chip rows tight full with Sopranos.
I like that breakdown, never thought about lowering the nickels.

You could even drop the number of $1 chips (on Matthew's breakdown) by 10 and add 10 more $5 chips to really bulk up the limits of the set. This has the added bonus of providing a few more high denoms if you ever wanted to run a impromtu tourney with that set.

No way these will be used as a tourney....the fauxs are my tournament babies!! VIVA!!!!
I actually modified Matthews suggestion a little and squeezed those fives in there. Then I emptied out a spare box in my TASK FORCE tournament case that had bounty, show em, and other misc chips to make room for 100 more cash chips. I haven't got it all perfected yet, still manuvering some things around checking the numbers and all....once I get it settled I will post back here!
