Hows this for a breakdown?

For a small tourney set:

300 chips

150 - 100's
100 - 500's
50 - 1000's

20K starting stacks

Blinds starting at 100-200.

How many players would you like to cater to?

This setup seems a bit inflexible, without much room for more than 5 players or colour-ups. If you definitely like those denominations then:

100 - 100's
100 - 500's
100 - 1000's

would allow (at a stretch) up to 8 players starting with 20k or for 5 players would allow full colour-up to 1000's. I'm sure this could be refined further too, depending on how many players you would like it to be able to cater to.

Unfortunately, having the highest denomination only 2x the next-highest is limiting in terms of the flexibility of the setup. 5/25/100, 25/100/500 or 1000/5000/25000 provides better "value" in these terms but if you like the 100, 500 and 1000 chips then that's the important thing.

Regards,

David.

For 5 players I'd go with:

100 - 100's
100 - 500's
100 - 1000's

Then everyone starts with
20 x 100
16 x 500
10 x 1000

For 20k in chips.

Once the blinds are high enough that the 100's aren't useful, they can be fully coloured-up with the spare 500's and similarly the 500's can be fully coloured up with 1000's. And everyone starts with plenty of chips.

Hope that's useful.

Regards,

David.
