Chips: 4 | | | What's a good torny 1,5,25,100 breakdown First off HELLO. (It's my first post). I have read a lot of good information here already. Here is what I would like to do with my first chipset:
I would like denominated 1,5,25, and 100 chips in a set of 1000 total chips.
I want to set these chips up for tournament play. I have read some of the chip breakdowns but most start with a 25 chip and move to a 100 chip thus it is a 4X increase in value where as my first two moves would be 5X increase in value followed by a 4X increase so I don't believe those breakdowns will work correctly for me.
I would also like these chips to double as a home ringgame set where the 1 becomes .01, 5 becomes .05 ect.... however I think any breakdown of 1000 chips will suit a 10 person ring game just fine.
I also want this set for the purpose of starting a poker club in a new city I'm moving to. The town has 9000 people, and 40,000 people live in the county I'm hoping I can get something going by advertising in the county newspaper (only paper in the county). Anyway if this effects what chips I should get let me know.
Also, thanks in advance for all the help. It looks like this is a resourceful bunch. |

Standard tourney denoms are usually something like this 5,25,100,500,1000 & 5000 or 25,100,500,1000 &5000.. Make sure to get samples of everything you like before taking the plunge. If you want the set to serve as a Tourney and Ring set, you might want to look for a set with no Dollar or Cents sign..Good Luck.

Chips: 4 | | | Re: What's a good torny 1,5,25,100 breakdown Basically I would like to accomodate up to 20 players, that is if I can make that many new friends in my new town. This set is mostly for a no-limit hold'em tourny. I don't see the buy in and the number of chips to be equal in value (I think that is what you are asking), at least for the tournaments, for a ring game the chips would have to equal the buyin, but I wouldn't imagine a buyin of more than 5 dollars and more than 10 people in a ring game. Does that help? |

i meant, what starting chip stack do you want the players to begin with? T1000 or T1500 like my home games, T10000 like the wsop or something else. that would affect your set. you wouldn't want $1 chips if you plan to give out 10,000 chips for the turney.
cash:
with $5-$10 buy in what stakes do you plan? $0.05/$0.10 no limit? more or less? will it be no limit or limit? |

Chips: 18,645 | | | Re: What's a good torny 1,5,25,100 breakdown OK, if you are going to buy 1,000 chips . . . . and you want denoms $1, 5, 25, 100 . . . . and you want a tourney breakdown . . . . and also usable for small stakes cash . . . . then here is something that might work for you.
1. Tourney amount -- I'd suggest $1,000 as the tourney starting amount. If the blinds are $1/$2, that's a very deep stack for people to play a lot. You could easily go with a smaller amount, but what the heck.
2. Starting stack -- if you want pretty large stacks for everyone to play with, you could start with this:
10 x $1
13 x $5
9 x $25
7 x $100
Total 39 chips per person for T$1,000
3. Chip set -- to support this tourney and have enough chips to color up the $1s and $5s when the blinds get higher, you can buy:
200 x $1
300 x $5
300 x $25
200 x $100
Total 1,000 chips. This is really more than you need for a 20-person tourney, and it will give you extras for cash play. | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
