What do you guys think about this chip breakdown / tourney structure?
I play in a NLHE game every Thursday night using this other guy's chips (some cheap walmart/target type set, metal slugged and has values stamped onto each chip), and I've always felt the breakdown and structure were weird. What do you guys think?
The strangest thing I find about it is that we don't use the whites at all, so there's always 3 nice big rows of them just sitting in his case. Occasionally we have big games - twice we've had 13 people at start and then 5 rebuys on top... when that happens, we run out of blacks and greens. We've had to use whites as blues in those cases, and/or uses blacks from another set (sometimes I bring my crappy chips just in case).
I dunno. Just wondering what you guys thought of this breakdown / structure and if you had any thoughts on how it could be improved. Though I dunno how open many of the players would be to drastic changes (I'm relatively new to their game)
Re: What do you guys think about this chip breakdown / tourney structure?
I'm not a fan of the blind increases from level to level. The only times my blinds double is from the 25/50 to 50/100 and (if we get this far) from 1000/2000 to 2000/4000.
You could try more gentle increases (i.e. 1.25 or 1.33 times the previous blinds) in the blinds and make each level shorter (15-20min.)...
Just some ideas. But remember...it's ultimately the host's call.

Good tourney structures can be made with this set. T100 for a quick sng, T200 for your average tourney, T300 for a somewhat deepstacked tourney.
Take t300 for example- starting with 150 bb provides a pretty skill intensive tournament
with 30 min levels this structure would be great
1/2
2/4
3/6
4/8
5/10
8/16
t300 starting stack consists of:
15x white $1
9x red $5
14 x blue $10
4x green $25
