Chip Breakdown: T10000

I host a biweekly $40 T10000 freezeout with around 10-14 people with the following structure:

Blinds go up every 20 minutes:

25/50
50/100
100/200
150/300 --color up 25s
200/400
300/600
500/1000
700/1400
1000/2000 --color up 100s
1500/3000
2000/4000
3000/6000 --capped here

I seek the knowledge of fellow Chiptalkers to come up with a chip breakdown.

I have the following denoms available: 25, 100, 500, 1000

Things to consider: I need to have at least 100 of each denom and I also like to have a lot of chips in play.

Re: Chip Breakdown: T10000

Starting stacks need to be based on 14

Fo a T10,000 excellent starting stacks are (12 x T25, 12 x T100, 9 x T500, 4 x T1000) x 14 players

You will need
168 T25s (value 4200)
168 T100s + 42 T100 to color up = 210 T100 (value 21000)
126 T500s + 42 T500 to color up = 168 T500
56 T1000s

Bump up to 20 players
240 T25 (value 6k)
240 T100 + 60 T100 to color up = 300 T100 (value 30k)
180 T500 + 60 T500 to color up = 240 T500
80 T1000

If you want to increase your T1000 chips by 20 to make an even 100, drop out 40 T500s.
240 x T25, 300 x T100, 200 x T500, 100 x T1000

Re: Chip Breakdown: T10000

do you have any restrictions? max number of chips? min qty per denom? do you have to purchase each denom in multiples of 10, 20, 25, or 50?

Re: Chip Breakdown: T10000

I use starting stacks of 20x$25, 20x$100 and 15x$500. I don't use the $1,000 chips at all. Lots of chips on the table. We also add antes later in the game so the $25's get used for the majority of the tourny.

Re: Chip Breakdown: T10000

if you could get 1000 chips here's my suggestion:
320 x t25
280 x t100
230 x t500
170 x t1000

14 players, each player:
T25 - 20 chips
T100 - 20 chips
T500 - 15 chips
that's a huge chipstack of 55 chips

20 players, each player:
T25 - 16 chips
T100 - 11 chips
T500 - 11 chips
T1000 - 3 chips
total of 41 chips

if you ever think you'll get up to 30 players, that's possible too with a 1000chip set, albeit with a different breakdown

That's pretty close to what we use - 12xT25, 17xT100, 10xT500, 3xT1000. My set of 500 is based on 8 players, though. Started out with 20xT25 before that, but that was really too many for something that got removed from play early on. A recent tournament when we had more than the usual 8 players we went with... 8xT25, 13xT100, 11xT500, 3xT1000 (I think) and that worked out good as well. Minimal change making even with just eight T25 chips.

So in short, those starting stacks look good to me since they are close to mine I'm always open to tweaking my own set/stacks.

Re: Chip Breakdown: T10000

8/13/7/5

We've ended up using fewer $25 chips and more $100s, since the $100s become the betting workhorse and the $25s just get used for blinds and limps (since we don't have antes).

If you buy fewer $25s and more $100s/$500s, you can get more players for the same overall set cost.
