Chips: 174 | | | What do you think of this setup For one of the upcoming GB's, I'm thinking I'm going to buy an all high denomination set, so what do you think of this:
800 chips, should support up to 20 players
Max Starting stack of 200,000, min probably 100,000
1000- 300
5000- 300
10000- 150
50000- 50
Starting stacks for the max # and max chips would be:
15 (1k)
15 (5k)
6 (10k)
1 (50k)
for 37 chips and 200k value
For Blinds I'm looking at something like this (multiply by 1000)
1-2
1-3
2-4
3-6
4-8
5-10
6-12
8-16
(color up 1k)
10-20
15-30
20-40
25-50
(color up 5k)
30-60
40-80
50-100
and I can't imagine it even getting this far, especially if I played starting stacks of less than 200k.
What do you think?? I'm stressing myself out over this, my first really BIG EXPENSIVE chipset buy. |

I don't think you need more than 200x 1k chips since you probably don't need to give your players more than 10x 1k chips to start. Maybe you like players to have huge chip stacks. That's cool too.
Here's how I would do it:
To start w/ 200k, I would use:
10x 1k
8x 5k
6x 25k
for 20 players, I need:
200x 1k
160x 5k
120x 25k
= 480 chips
Cool. Now I still have 320 chips to allocate. 200x20 = 4000k on the table. I might need some 100k chips since my final blind level is going to be in the 100k/200k area.
Let's say I want 40x 100k chips
520 chips now, 380 to go.
It would also be nice to color out the 1k and 5k chips later. I need 2x 25k chips per player to do this, so I need 40x 25k chips
560 chips now, 240 to go.
Now, I have some options. I can grab more 1k and 5k chips to make starting stacks "larger" in size. Or I can get some more 25k and 100k chips so I could play some ridiculously large games.
If you specifically only want 1k, 5k, 10k and 50k chips, let's do this rundown.
Let's say I wanted players to start with:
10x 1k
10x 5k
4x 10k
2x 50k
= 200k (26 chips)
I need:
200x 1k
200x 5k
80x 10k
40x 50k
= 520 chips
I also need another 40x 50k chips to round up the rest, and maybe another 20x 10k chips to help round up 1k/5k chips.
So our shopping bill:
200x 1k
200x 5k
100x 10k
80x 50k
= 580 chips
and you can fill out the rest with whatever you want.
Personally, I prefer to have some more higher denom chips in case I feel like running a much larger game. You've got so many chips in your set (800) it's hard to go wrong with your setup unless you skimp too much on the higher denoms.
If you're on a budget and would like to pare that set down a bit, follow my suggestions |

Chips: 3,469 | | | Re: What do you think of this setup I think your blinds progress a little too slow. I don't know how long you want your games to run, but the game usually ends around the time that the sb+bb = 1/10 of the chips on the table. For a 20 player game w/ 200k starting stacks, there's 4mil on the table. The game should end around the time that the blinds are 100k/200k or 150k/300k. For a 20 player game w/ 100k stacks, you'll need 75k/150k blinds to end the game.
example:
3 hr game, 15 min blinds, 200k stacks, 20 players:
1/2
2/4
3/6
4/8
5/10
10/20
15/30
25/50
50/100
75/150
100/200
150/300
If you're using 10k and 50k chips, we can change the final blind levels to:
10/20
20/40
30/60
50/100
80/160
100/200
150/300 |

For a T-100,000 you can cover 20 players with exactly enough to color up all the way with this: 300 / 280 / 170 / 50,
with a chip distribution of 15 / 11 / 3.
If you did a T-200,000 you could use the $50,000 chips and do 15 / 11 / 3 / 2, but only color up to $10,000.
Easy. Operators are standing by to take your order. |

Chips: 174 | | | Re: What do you think of this setup Thanks for the suggestions everyone. This would be much easier if I would be normal and go with a 1, 5, 25 setup, but the problem is I HATE the 25k chip. Well, maybe thats a little too strong, but I much prefer the 10k 50k combo to the 25k chip, and both of my other sets run in the standard 1,5,25 increments so I want something different.
Anyway the good news is theres still plenty of time before ordering will start, so I can continue to stress myself out. |

10/20
20/40
30/60
50/100
80/160
100/200
150/300 | Wow... that's identical to my T200 tournament structure... wonder why?
BTW, the first chips I ever purchased were in denoms of $1, $2, $5, and $10 (unnecessary, of course), but this tournament is still a fun one to play. We buy in with $20 so it's almost like a pseudo-cash tournament (just remove one "0"). If you add 3 zeros, you get your T200,000.
As everyone else has been saying, I'd go with the 1, 5, 25, and 100 (k) chip values... but remember that, with all due respect, you're running a T200 tournament with and extra x1000 for show, and there's lots of T200 tournament structures and starting stack information around... | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
