Question proposal #2 (final proposal hopefully) for setup on T10,000

proposal #2
how does this sound for T10,000 with 20 person max:

8 x 25 = 200
8 x 100 = 800
8 x 500 = 4000
5 x 1000 = 5000
T 10,000

order:
160 $25
160 $100
160 $500
100 $1000
50 $5000 (for coloring up)

630 chips total

Re: best poker denom configuration for a 9-20 (1-2) table game

10k is too many for my tastes (unless I'm paying thousands of dollars to play a large tourney). But to each his own. Also, you'd want more middle denomination chips and fewer end range (I'd consider eliminating the 10k chip). Remember you have to color up your lower denoms as the night goes on.

Re: best poker denom configuration for a 9-20 (1-2) table game

Go with T=10K with 8-25,8-100,8-500,5-1000s for 20 players thats 160-25's, 200-100's,200-500's and 100-1000's you should have enough to color up too. If you have 10 players well thats 1/2 as many chips.

was thinking something like as follows:
250 - $25
100 - $100
100 - $500
75 - $1000
75 - $5000
50 - $10,000

starting stack configs
6 x 1000 = 6000
5 x 500 = 2500
11 x 100 = 1100
16 x 25 = 400

any other suggestions or a thumbsup on the above config would be much appreciated! thanks

or should I consider just keeping the typical 1500 stack configs and get lower denoms (ie. 5, 25, 50, 100, 500, 1000)
We run T10,000 tournies (good enough for WSOP, good enough for me ) and start with 12 X 25, 12 X 100, 7 X 500 and 5 X 1000

There is no need for 16 x 25, you can even get away with using 8 X 25 and 8 X 100, although this means that players will be making change quite often. Having done both, I greatly prefer 12 of each.

Since you are assuming a max. of 20 players you will need a minimum of

$25 X 240
$100 X 240
$500 X 140
$1000 X 100
$5000 X 20

This is the bare minimum and you would have to utilize your $5,000's when you color up.

I also agree with getting rid of the 10k chip, that just seems a bit too much denoms, and 10k sounds to me like WSOP kinda denoms lol.

Re: proposal #2 (final proposal hopefully) for setup on T10,000

Sorry to throw a wrench in this but I have ditched the 1000 chip for the 2500 chip. I have done 14-20 players t10,000 for about a year with WSOP blind structure.

For t10,000 this is what I do:

2x2500
8x500
8x100
8x25

Chips needed for 20 players:
40x2500
160x500
160x100
160x25

750 Chip set:

100X2500
200x500
250x100
200x25

Re: proposal #2 (final proposal hopefully) for setup on T10,000

Well you definitely do not need 50 of the $5,000's, unless you are doing re-buys. 20 players @T10,000 equals 200,000. 20 5,000 chips equals 100,000, and use your 1,000's and 500's to make the rest.

As I said earlier, I find that that starting with 8 each of the 25's and 100's is doable, but 12 each is better as the players will not have to make change as often, plus it will be easier to find someone to trade with when needed.

the least I can do is quantities of 50 so figured I would get the minium of those.

Pantsonfire,

What are the length of your levels using the WSOP stucture? How long does it normally last? Also do you use the antes also? I am thinking of using the same stucture for about the same number of players, so just wondering how you do it.

In discussions like these, I like to point out one of the best tools that this site has:

Capt Lego's Breakdown Calculator:

http://www.captlego.com/breakdown/breakdown_6.html

It takes pretty much all the guesswork out of it.
