Breakdown Ideas

Alright, I've figured out what chips I want and how many. Now, I need some help figuring a breakdown. My game is pretty irregular and very unorganized. At most(ever) we've had 12, but normally have btween 8 and 10. I've been tossing around a T2500 or a T3000 tourney. I'm getting 25, 100, 500, and 1000 chips in the Blue Chip Hotstamp deal they're having. Anybody have any ideas or any experience with a tourney like this? I'm looking do to it with a 400 set (to start anyway ) and am not sure how I should be looking at it. Are there any resources I could look at that would help me with this? Any help is muchly appreciated.

Re: Breakdown Ideas

Homepokertourney is a great resource for running your home game. I've used their chip calculator so often its almost engrained into my brain. With a 400 chip set a good breakdown is 80xT25 100xT100 120xT500 and 100x1000. This allows for full color up of all chips and maximizes chip values.

Re: Breakdown Ideas

I just dropped this info in another post (see thread below this one) and I decided the info could help you out too. So here it is:

When building my current single table set (TR Kings) I wanted to cover both cash game considerations and tournaments for up to eight players. My chips are nondenominational so I have total flexibility with the set.

This is the breakdown I finally ordered (in tournament/cash format):
T25/25¢ x 96
T100/$1 x 156
T500/$5 x 56
T1000/$20 x 16
This comes to 324 chips but will easilly fit into a 300 chip case with room for more. I ordered the 16 T1000 chips to be used as either colour ups / rebuys / or bounty chips in a tournament or as the BIG chip in a cash game.

Starting stacks for a T5000 (for 8 players):
T25 x 12 = 300 (no chips left over)
T100 x 17 = 1700 (20 chips left over to colour up most of the T25s)
T500 x 6 = 3000 (8 chips left to colour up remaining T25s and a few T100s)
This gives everyone a nice juicy stack to start with and makes excellent use of your entire chipset.

By altering the starting stacks to 8xT25 , 12xT100, 4xT500, and 1xT1000 you could accomodate up to 12 players with a T4500 tourny. Add some more T500 and T1000 chips to bring your set up to 400 chips and you will not have any problems. Good luck.

I'm in the same boat. Know what chips, colours etc but am trying to work out my breakdown for my 500 chips.

Re: Breakdown Ideas

400-500 chip sets cant afford to give out 40ish starting stacks to players and expect to have chips colored up. I think the WSOP breakdown this year was the most efficient chip breakdown one could come up with for T10k:

8 x 25 (96 total)
8 x 100 (96 total)
8 x 500 (96 total)
5 x 1000 (60 total)

You could take out the 1000's for a T5k which would reduce your total chips needed. For color ups I would suggest 37 more T100 and 39 more T500's. I wouldn't worry about coloring up the T500's.

100 x 25
150 x 100
150 x 500 (400 chips, T5000)
100 x 1000 (500 chips, T10000)
