Colour Combination Help

Greetings,

I'll looking to purchase a 400 piece NEXGEN "Lucky Bee" chip set and am given the option of picking and choosing what colour chips and how many of them. I've decided to go with just 4 colours as I'm in the middle of creating custom labels to go with them: Green = $25; Black = $100; Purple = $500; Yellow = $1000.

What I need help with is suggestion for possible numbers of each colour to make up the 400 total chips. They will be basically used for short-handed (most of the time six players but rarely no more than eight) sit and go style tournament with re-buys. The typical starting chip breakdown is as follows:

$2500 (made up of blank "Dice" chips)

16 x $25
16 x $100
1 x $500

I'm thinking:

125 x Green
125 x Black
75 x Purple
75 x Yellow

I'd be grateful for any further suggestions and help.

Re: Colour Combination Help

Do you only use/have 400 Dice chips at a game now or do you end up adding more chips due to re-buys?

It would help to know your blind levels, lengths and if you color up at all but here's my thoughts.

Assuming levels as follows:
25-50
50-100
100-200 (Color up green)
200-400
etc...
(Depending on your blind levels) Lets assume you will have your max number of players ( using your current breakdown. You won't have enough green or black. For re-buys or add-ons you would need to use larger denoms and there would be a lot of change making. Even if you have only 6 players this may/will happen. Some don't mind this, some do.

You could easily cut back on the purple and yellow (maybe even eliminate the yellows) and bump up the green and black.

I have a 1000 pc set of Bees, run T1500 games, 20 min rounds, 10-20 players, and the games rarley go long enough (3 hours or so) to even use the yellow chips. When I do it's usually at the heads up stage anyway. I don't even use many purples for that matter.

Since you only need green for 2 rounds I'd probably go something like this...

150 - green
175 - black
50 - purple
25 - yellow (if any, otherwise I'd do 200 black)

Just my .02

Re: Colour Combination Help

You could have your breakdown
8- green x8 players= 64 chips
13-black x8 =104 chips
2- purple x8 = 16 chips
This woud give you a 23 starting chips each, and allow for rebuys.

Thanks for your comments.

As players re-buy chips are added to the table with a re-buy equalling the same chips breakdown as the starting stack and there is no colouring up.

A typical structure is as follows, levels usually lasting between 15-20mins:

25-50
50-100
75-150
100-200
150-300
200-400
300-600
400-800
500-1000
750-1500
1000-2000
2000-4000
3000-6000 etc.

Hope this helps.
