Chips: 20 | | | Need help w/ chip break down Hi guys, just found out about this great forum and now im doing the PSO for the NJ sets. This set will be mainly for our home tourney with around 9-12 people and sometimes cash game .5/1 or 1/2. I'm thinking of a T5,000 tourney and the chip break down like this:
8 x $25
13 x $100
5 x $500
1 x $1,000
total 27 chips, blind 25/50 and structure like this:
$25-$50
$50-$100
$100-$200
$150-$300
$200-$400 -- color-up $25s here
$300-$600
$400-$800
$500-$1,000
$1,000-$2,000
$1,500-$3,000
$2,000-$4,000
$3,000-$6,000
We just want our game to last around 2hrs. What do you guys think about this setup? and what is the breakdown for my 500 set? TIA |

I like your starting stack, we have a $T5000 with a similar stack (8/13/3/2) that works very well. If you start with too many $25s, that's a waste of time and chips.
You'll probably not finish a 12-person tourney like that in 2 hours, unless you have mainly wild players. You're probably looking at the $2000/4000 level (plus or minus) when you finish. You could skip the 150/300 and 300/600 levels, and/or go to much higher levels when you get near your quitting time. Of course the total time depends on the length of your blind levels.
If you want your set to serve for cash games too, I assume you'd divide by 100 for cash amounts. Then you probably should buy more 25s and 100s than you would need for the tourney. If you're getting 500 chips, I would suggest buying 120/200/120/60 to serve both purposes. |

Chips: 73 | | | Re: Need help w/ chip break down We do a T200 game, we use $1,$5, and $25 chips. Then use them for cash. If you need to add 2 zeros when you say the amounts and you'll feel like a millionaire.
T200 starting stacks
20 - $1
16 - $5
4 - $25
Blinds 1/2, 2/4.3/6,4/8,5/10,10/20,15/30,25/50, 50/100, 75/150

Unless you are doing 5-10min rounds, that tourney will take closer to 3.5 - 4hrs.
If you want to go only 2hrs, here is an accelerated schedule with 20min rounds. Code: 25 50
50 100
100 200
---- Break ----
200 400
500 1,000
1,000 2,000
---- Break ----
1,500 3,000
2,000 4,000
3,000 6,000 |

Chips: 331 | | | Re: Need help w/ chip break down I am getting ready to change my set to a T5000. I'm going to use:
8 - 25's
8 - 100's
8 - 500's
For a 500 chip set you could have enough for 18 people and get:
150 - 25's
150 - 100's
175 - 500's
25 - 1000's |

Thanks again every1 | Yeah, the length of the tourney turns out to be mostly about how fast the blinds go up -- both in time and in amounts. I don't recommend real short level times (like 10-15 minutes) in live play because you don't get enough hands in at full tables. I'd rather see 20-25 minute levels (for example) but a steeper increase like Hach's. One thing we do is start a little slower but then crank up the blinds (slip levels) if there are too many players left. Unfortunately, that makes for more of a crapshoot, but if you gotta get done, that's the only way to do it.
Good luck with your tourney play, and your new chips of course! | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
