SMALL 320 Chipset help - 2 denoms

Here's the thing:
Our neighborhood game is 95% of the time 8 people, no more, because that's the size of the table.
Tournament structure so people won't get too deep in the hole playing cash... these are neighbors, after all..

We've been playing 5-25-100 T800 or T1000 with dice chips that don't have enough blacks and too many whites. We've been rigging the system so to speak.

No denoms on our existing sets.

I've about had enough of the dice chips and want to get something decent.
I am ready to jump RIGHT into the deep end of the pool, which explains the previous Paulson poll I started to help things along...

here's the question:
Is it insane to have ONLY two denominations? This home game has really bad blinds timing / management and really bad memories as to what color is what denom....
I want to end all questions so to speak. "Two colors you dunces, green T25 and black T100. Anyone ask how much is a green chip will get pounded." I also want an easy start and then go slowly as it kills the all-in fests that quick blinds usually generate.

To explain, we really like the black hundred chip as a color, and I do not want to start with that chip as it then sits out for half the game.
I do not think the eight of us will get huffy pushing big stacks of blacks into the middle as we all want to pretend we're hot sh**t.

So: 120 T25
200 T100 for a total of T23,000

12 25's
22 100's for each player.
T2500

Blinds (no idea for time, suggestions? Longer suits me anyway and no one pays attention to the blinds time)
25-25
25-50
50-100
75-150
100-200
150-300
color greens
200-400
300-600
400-800
Game is usually over by now....
500-1000
600-1200
etc.

I am trying to build this set using Paulsons from an old casino, so St Jo's, The Ambassador Plazas, Fun Nites, Grand Casino T chips are all candidates. I saw the 1's from The Grand Casino, but they don't really go here. The 600 chip St Jo set is useless as it's front stacked with 5's. I'd have to get two of those 600 sets to strip out the 100's and then sell lots of 5's and 25's out on eBay as this chiptalk market probably is saturated.

Oh, if anyone is bored with their St Jo's 100's, primary or secondary PM me.

i can always add 500's when I find more money in the couch cushions.

Comments or warnings?

Re: SMALL 320 Chipset help - 2 denoms

8 in the game - so 12x8 greens is all you need. Go 100 chips there.

Then go 220 black if you're set on 2 denoms or go 200 black and then use the other 20 for a 500 chip.

Will be better with 3 denoms. This will also allow rebuys with 100s and 500s if you change the game up any.

Thanks Matthew.

The home geniuses usually lose most of their t25's if a few rounds and need change before we hit the 100SB so that's why I had a little fat in the T25 rack.

Also don't think the game will change much. If it does, there's my excuse for more chips for the T500."Honey, THEY changed the game, what am I gonna do?"

I had a feeling that 3 denoms is preferable for the long run. I guess my question is whether people have played using only two denoms?

two will work fine. If you wanted to, you could emulate the Celebrity Poker Showdown structure, whatever that is. They use only two denoms, 100 and 500.

Re: SMALL 320 Chipset help - 2 denoms

(T25-120, T100-200) I think it's workable as well, T2500 x 8 players = all the black chips. Just doesn't leave alot of wiggle room for rebuys. In this case only one, those will be in green chips. That would leave 300 chips inplay when you got down to 2 people.

My crew like to play with the black chips as well, feels very cool. My Thursday game barely managed to seat 6 when we began, now we seat 10-12 and have to turn people away sometimes. I was glad I had enough chips for a couple extra set-ups for the occasional guest that became a regular.

The smallest set I came up with to accomodate extra people and rebuys was (T25 - 160, T100 - 160, T500 - 80) 400 chips. We do T2,000, which matches up nicely with $20 buyin. It can also double as a cash set.

Players-----T25-----T100-----T500-----Rebuys
8------------20------- 15-------- 0 --------12 (2 x T500)
10 ----------16 -------11-------- 1 --------10 (2 x T500)
12 ----------12 -------12-------- 1--------- 8 (2 x T500)

Blinds 20 - 30 minutes -
25/25
25/50
50/100
75/150
100/200 (color up)
200/400
300/600
400/800 (usually our last blind)
500/1000
+ 100/200 (leaving T100 in play until 1,000/2,000)
We never get the far....

Wow, that was a long answer. Hope I didn't confuse the issue

Re: SMALL 320 Chipset help - 2 denoms

Just bought some starbursts for the 120 part of this set.
Now I'm just going to have to find decent 100's somewhere........

Are there even any black solid paulson's available? If not I guess you could choose chocholate or grey and put black labels on them... that might work.

Re: SMALL 320 Chipset help - 2 denoms

Trying to finish transaction on 200 black St Jo's...........
Considering 100 25 secondaries.
Which would make this a three denom set, swinging either 5-25-100 or 25-100-500 using the Starbursts as the pinch hitter.

I love this place.

EDIT: no more money, so sticking with the two denom set as described in OP.
Can swing it both ways, T25 or T500 for Starbursts and the St Jo's will be T100.
Cash game: quarters and dollars. Although I don't think that will ever happen.

T2500 will be tight as ALL 100's will need to be used for T25 color ups.
The T10,000 below seems to work too.
