Chips: 1,617 | | | 1000 chip question ok so in case you don't know I am working on a custom set, well infact sn0wstorm is doing the work I am just sitting here saying ya I like that, could you change that... you get the idea. A big shoutout to sn0wstorm for helping me BTW! The link to the whole process is: http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/custom...c-customs.html
I have been thinking about denoms. We mostly play T1000 or T1500 but people have been talking about cash games as well prob .05/.10 or .25/.50 there is normally about 8 to 10 people but we could have up to 20.
Right now I am thinking 1, 5, 10, 25, 100, 500, 1000 no $ so I can use them as dollars for the T1000 and cents for the cash games.
So my question is how many of each denom do you guys think I should get... and/or do you think these denoms are ok, should I add something or remove something?
Thanks in advance

*edit* sorry about putting this in the wrong section... I am still REAL green behind the ears

Chips: 106 | | | Re: 1000 chip question I'm not sure how set you are on the denoms, but I really don't think you need the 1s or 10s, especially the ones. The 10s will only be useful if you are playing a game like 10/20 or 30/60. If you really think you will be playing 0.05/0.10, then this should be pretty easy (this is what we play). What we do is play T1000 tourneys, and when we play 0.05/0.10 cash games, we usually do $10 buyins, so the values are all the same, just 1/100th.
I only have 480 chips right now, so it is a little tricky for me to transfer my numbers to yours (probably not best to just double). My T1000 tourney set up is:
20 x 5
20 x 25
4 x 100
-------------
44 chips for T1000
My rough estamates for 1000 chips would probably be:
300 x 5
360 x 25
210 x 100
85 x 500
45 x 1000
---------------
1000 chips for T94,000
I don't think you need the 1000, so if you don't just get 25 more 500s.
This way you can start at (for 20 people):
15 x 5
13 x 25
6 x 100
-----------
34 chips for T1000
You will have:
160 x 25 to color up all 5's
90 x 100 to color up all 25's
The 500s and 1000s could be used for rebuys (if you have them), or to increase your starting stack. I'm sure there is a lot more to consider in these calculations, and I'd recomend playing with one of the chip calculators before you decide on your final numbers.
I hope this helps you out a little.

Chips: 1,617 | | | Re: 1000 chip question I meant to reply to this a while ago. As for the $1 chip, the guys I play with are dead set with starting the blinds at 1/2 for our T1000 and no matter what I say that does not seem to be changing. Also I don't mind having a $1 chip for cash games at least that way you could have .05, .10, .25 and 1 so that could work out... I do see your point with the 10 chip and I may get rid of that one. I guess it would be ok...
So lets say I go with 1, 5, 25, 100, 500, 1000
how would 200, 200, 200, 200, 150, 50 sound like? I could then start 20 ppl off with 10 $1, 8 $5, 10 $25, 7 $100 and 1 $500 for a T1500 which would be good. There is still lots of room to color-up.
One more question, with a birdcage how many chips can you hold in there? I am wondering if there is room for say 40 or so chips on top in a bag or something... bounty and show'em chips

You can basically hold four regular decks of cards in the paper boxes on top of 1000 chips in a birdcage, to give you an idea of how much room is up there.

Chips: 1,617 | | | Re: 1000 chip question Even in a cash game, still drop the 10? I guess being that I want this set to do it all right now. I don't know. What about if I made two sets, one 1000 set for Tourny stuff and another 300 to 500 cash set. Would that be better? Or does it matter? |

Chips: 1,617 | | | Re: 1000 chip question Has anyone ever played with a $2500 does it exist? I am working on this damn 1000 set, and a $1000 chip is almost to small and a $5000 chip is to big, the most I think I will ever play with is 18. 27 is the extreme MAX I can't even imagine playing with 27 people.
Right now I am thinking: 300 $5 300 $25 225 $100 100 $500 25 $2500
The 50 left over will be special chips
So even if I get 27 people (not likely) we could play T1500 starting with 28 chips: 10 $5 50 10 $25 250 7 $100 700 1 $500 500
18 people will start with 39 chips: 15 $5 75 13 $25 325 11 $100 1100
So what do you think of that as well as a $2500 chip?

Chips: 1,861 | | | Re: 1000 chip question There's no reason to have a $5 and a $10 in play at the same time. $10 chips are great for "pink chip" games, where the "pink" chip is $2.50.
Basically, make them go up in 4x and 5x increments.
Yes, a $2500 chip would make perfect sense. I think the only reason $500 to $1000 is traditional is because that's where the "1,5,25,100,500" progression resets. If it was your top chip it would be great.

If you really want to get the most out of your set, you need to consider non-denominated chips. I have a 4-color set of 1,100 that will cover a T-10,000 for 40 players with plenty to color up and re-buy. I can stretch it to 80 players and color up to $500 with no re-buy (but it's only 12 chips each).
Break down is 400/350/250/100. That will also cover any cash game you can think of. |

Chips: 111 | | | Re: 1000 chip question I agree with dropping the 10. The 10 would be luxury if you have plenty of chips but for a 1000 chip set, there isn't enough room to include the 10. My main cash set is 1100 chips with only 4 denoms, 400 $1's, 400 $5's, 200 $25's and 100 $100's. I really don't need the $100's and I could have cut down on the $25's but those are for the future when/if game gets higher. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
