Help with chip breakdown

I decided that I'm going to try and put together a set of New Yorkers. I want to put together a 500 chip tournament set. I'm not really fussy on wether they are the primary or secondaries.

I need help with coming up with a breakdown that makes sense. I run a T1000 tournament with the following blind structure with max 10-12 people:

5/10
10/25
25/50
50/100
75/150
100/200
150/300
200/400
etc.

I am probably only going to need 5s, 25s, 100s, and a few 500s. So how many of each should I get? . Also if anyone has any of these for sale let me know

Re: Help with chip breakdown

10-12 people

10 $5/player = 120
14 $25/player = 140 + 24 to buy out
6 $100/player = 72

This is a very basic set. I really didn't shoot for the 500 piece goal.

Shooting for 500 chips. 12 players, T1000 no rebuys (not extremely flexible) add 8 500s for craps and giggles. You don't need the 120 100 pieces either. I said starting stacks of:

15: 5s
13: 25s
6: 100s

180 5s for starting stacks (you can pretty easily get away with less if going with your structure) 8-10/player is probably sufficient
192 25s will give enough for starting stacks + buying out the 25s.
72 100s are required for starting stacks.
some 500s for fun and some extra 100s if you feel like it.

500 chips for this structure can go so many ways and be fine. Figure out your desired starting stack sizes and go from there.

Re: Help with chip breakdown

As Umbkcshah says, you can get away with a lot fewer than 500 chips for a T$1,000 for 10-12 players.

But this is Chiptalk! If you really want to buy 500 chips, I'd go for a bigger starting stack of chips and start with T$1,500. You can make your blinds go up a little faster if you want. Try this for 12:

Denom..Start....Buy
$5........10......120
$25.......18......240
$100...... 5......100
$500...... 1...... 40
Total.....34 ea..500

Or you can go to T$2,000, with a little smaller stack but for up to 14 people/rebuys:

Denom..Start....Buy
$5........10......140
$25.......10......170
$100...... 7......140
$500...... 2...... 50
Total.....29 ea..500

And that is why you are here.

I like Tomb's breakdown(s). You do not need to spend a lot of money on the lowest denom ($5) only to have them sitting in the case for most of the tournament.
