Cash games i would need at least 100 .25 and .50 chips. Tournaments i dont need to use $5, but i figure i could use 100 for cash games or tournament.
One thing is i will not Be running Both a tournament and a cash game at the same time. so I can use the $5 in the tournaments.
Thanks for any help. |
I have a 1000 chip, mixed-use set, but its breakdown is based in part on the available denominations in the set (.50/1/5/25/100/500/1000) and the ability to use the $25 chip as 25 cents in a cash game. Some people go as far as to use the $100 as a dollar chip in a cash game, though I do not, as I have some of each denomination - for better or worse, because I like the looks of all the chips in the set.
I have a few questions before I start throwing numbers around, as my setup is geared toward tourneys of T-5000 or T-10000 for up to 20 or 16 people.
(1) In running a T1500 tourney without a 5 chip, are you starting the blinds at 25/25?
(2) Do you have a particular chip set in mind? If so, does it have both a .25 and .50 chip - or are you okay with using the $25 chip as 25 cents - and/or having a mess of .25 chips instead of both .25 and .50?
(3) Similarly, are you interested in having a separate $1 chip, or using $100 as dollar chips in the cash game?
(4) Is the number of chips in each person's starting stack important to you (i.e. is 20 chips too small of a starting stack for your tournament)?
There are also a couple really good threads about chip set breakdowns and tournament structures. The "Post your chip set breakdown" sticky is
here. If you do a "Search this Thread" for "T1500," a few hits come up.
The tournament structure sticky may also be helpful to determine your starting stack requirements and reverse-engineer your set breakdown from those. Member Strange makes a good point in one of these threads - that the lower denom chips dictate the number of chips each person receives.
I also found a few good leads by doing a normal search of the forums for "T1500" or "T1500 cash" or "T1500 stack."
It sounds like 1000 chips are plenty for what you are aiming to do.
