| Another breakdown, you know you want to help. Cash and tourney set. OK, so I'm pretty sure in the near future I'm going to be going the route of custom ceramic. I'm hoping this will be my be all, end all set, but then again, I thought that about the Pharaohs, and the PNYs, and the Egyptians, and you get the idea. But with something custom and truly mine, I think I'll be pretty happy.
So here's what I've got in mind. I want a cash and tourney set and I want them to be separate, no intermingling of the sets except in a few special cases that I'll describe. I'd also like an economy of chips, at least for now, as the cash flow isn't exactly at its peak right now. Hopefully it's a situation where I'll be able to do future reorders to fill things out, but that's down the road.
Here's my stab at it, a 1,200 chip set:
NCV: 80
$1: 200
$5: 80
$20: 40
---------
$25: 300
$100: 300
$500: 100
$1000: 100
I have 10 $5,000 and 2 $25,000 plaques already to fill out my top end. Our typical tournies are T5,000 rebuys with an occasional T10,000 game with no rebuy. Typical cash game is $0.25/$0.50 NL, $1/$2 or $2/$4 limit.
I think I could probably trim another 100 or so, especially from the tourney set, but I'm used to starting with big stacks. Currently we do 20x$25, 20x$100, and 5x$500 to start. Going to 16x$25, 16x$100, and 6x$500 wouldn't be a huge deal though and if I really pushed my numbers to the max (18 for my games), I could always get some $1000's into the starting stacks.
If we had a full field of 18 for the T10,000 game, with this breakdown or with cutting the 25's and 100's back to 250, I would still have $200,000 in 500's, 1000's, and 5000's. Add the 25,000's to the mix and we're up to $250,000. That seems like that would be good enough to me.
As far as the cash game, the NCVs would act as $0.25's or $0.50's depending on the game and I could also have them intermingle and be bounty chips, or rebuy chips, or anything else we might need a specialty chip for in a tourney. The only other special case would be when I do a 7 stud tourney, I would need to bring the 5's over for antes and I could supplement them with the NCVs to get enough on the table if I really needed to.
OK, I've rambled enough, what are some thoughts? |
