Matsui GB Breakdown discussion

The GB is moving in to the final tweaking and it's soon time to order. So how many and witch denoms are you ordering? Cash or tournie? This is NOT a order thread! I'm just curious of what everybody plan to get and what breakdown. I'm getting a cash set and have been agonizing over the breakdown for a couple of weeks now. My friends and I have been playing tournies almost exclusively but I will try to change that when these chips arrive. Ok enough ramble.

Stakes I want this set to handle.
Max 8 players
1/3 NL max buy-in 200
2/5 NL max buy-in 300
5/10 NL max buy-in 500

Breakdown
200 x $1
240 x $5
120 x $25
40 x $100
600 chips total.

So what do you think? Will this work? Comments and suggestions would be nice.

Re: Matsui GB Breakdown discussion

Sounds good to me. I'm getting something similar - it's for a T5000 or T10,000 with up to 16 players:

200 x $25
250 x $100
120 x $500
80 x $1000

650 chips total. Probably get some plaques too - 25 should be good.

T10,000 for 10 people:
20 x $25
20 x $100
5 x $500
5 x $1000

T5000 for 16:
12 x $25
12 x $100
3 x $500
2 x $1000

T5000 for 25 (colour up the $500s with $5000s)
8 x $25
8 x $100
4 x $500
2 x $1000

Re: Matsui GB Breakdown discussion

I'm not sure what suits my purposes now. I'm not really into the $5 unless I were to see actual samples. So I'm not ruling out a purchase of $5s. I believe I'd like to get $5000 plaques, but I don't want people betting with stacks of them. So I'm thinking 10 plaques is about right. So I'd actually like some suggestions as to what breakdowns work best for 1000 (give or take 400) chips using
A) 5/25/100/500/1000/5000 (capped at 10 $5000 plaques).
B) 25/100/500/1000/5000 (also capped at 10 $5000 plaques).

I only *need* enough chips for a single 9 person SNG. I'd like to be able to support an 18 person SNG with potentially some extras for re-buys.

Personally I like to use 25/100/500/1000 for my SNG's. This is what the breakdown calc. recommends and I think it looks good.

So with 710 chips and 10 plaques you could run a T5000 with 18 players. Nice sized starting stacks and 8 rebuys or 18 if you use the plaques for rebuys. You could also use the plaques to color up 100 of the 500 chips at the end of the tournie if you like.

Re: Matsui GB Breakdown discussion

Hey all, even though I don't need another set as I already have what I need. I really want a BJ style set and they have come along very nice. Also, I love the oversized chips and plaques. So to use those I'm making a tourney slash tourney set. I don't normally do this but it will work.

So mainly cash set with this breakdown.
$25-Use as .25 - 100 = $25 - ante chip or blinds maybe 160
$100-Use as $1 - 200 = $200
$500-Use as $5 - 200 = $1000
$5000 plaque- Use as $50 - 20 = $1000

Trying to keep this set kinda small as a travel set for a cash game or tourney if players wanted, just have to keep a tight reign on the chips. Any other ideas on improvment to the set, I don't really like the $1000 chip so I skiped it and will use plaques as a super high denom.
I would also like the set to handle as wide a variety of games and stakes as possible, I know the 100 .25 chips is low so it may become like 160. Otherthan that any other ideas.
Thanks

Huh. The $1000 is my favorite but to each their own. Anyway, back to your post:

How many players are you talking about? What kind of buy-in? Do your games ever have an increased ante? Even without knowing the answers, I'm inclinded to think you need more 25s and should have some 1000s (maybe 40-50) to help bridge to the 5000 plaques.

Only issue I have is that the $1000 would be a $10 chip. Plus its expensive so I'll get some plaques because I like plaques and these should look great. I love the $100 and the $500 so I know I want to go with those, but I also really like the .25 and $1, the $5 is OK but nothing great.

I may just go tourney set with $100 and up with the $1000 but don't know yet.

Well, the prices keep getting cheaper as more people buy in. The lower demoninations are cheapest so you could go with $.25, $1, $5 and $25s for both a cash and tourney set. You 'd miss out on the $100 and $500 though. The $1000 chip is only $.10 more than the $500 and both of them will eventaully fall in price. The $500 is at that mark already.
