Help with Paulson Fun Nite Tourney Setup

Need some advice, guys. I'm about to get a set of brand new Fun Nite chips that I'm planning for tourney use only. I'm thinking of using the 500, 1000, and 5000 denoms. Obviously using 500s and 1000s is not ideal, but I'd rather not start with the 100s. The guy I'm buying these through has gray 100s, and from what I know the 5000s are gray as well. Plus I'm thinking of running T50,000 and T100,000. Question is, would a 500/1000/5000 setup work? Share some knowledge please.

Re: Help with Paulson Fun Nite Tourney Setup

How many people?

With a 500 as your smallest chip SB/BB is 500/1000 to start. T50,000 is only 50x BB to start even T100,000 is close at 100XBB.

I suggest either drop down to include the 100s or plan on going bigger and maybe do a 1000-5000-25000 set up with a T200,000 - T400,000.

Re: Help with Paulson Fun Nite Tourney Setup

We usually have 8-10 people, occasionally 12 or so. I mentioned T50,000 and T100,000 for starters. Certainly T250,000 is workable as well if we try SB/BB as 500/1000. I'm just concerned whether the 500/1000 as SB/BB is workable, as the 500 chip will undoubtedly make a quick exit. But you do have a point about setting up a larger set, including a 25000 chip. Unfortunately, I don't think there is a 25000 in the Fun Nite line. Thanks for the input.

Re: Help with Paulson Fun Nite Tourney Setup

If you start out with your blinds at 500/500 you could get away with a T50000 tournament without any problems.

Re: Help with Paulson Fun Nite Tourney Setup

Good advice above. If you can’t get a $25,000 chip that makes it tough to do a T-100,000 or higher. Have you considered a more traditional tourney set up? Could you get lower denom chips for a T-1,000 or T-10,000?

Re: Help with Paulson Fun Nite Tourney Setup

If you want a more traditional tourney set up, check out the auction threads for the fun nite set on ebay. then maybe all you would have to do is buy some 1000's. Just a thought.

Re: Help with Paulson Fun Nite Tourney Setup

Thanks for the ideas guys. I definitely would have jumped on the ebay set, Smitty, but I'm strictly building a tourney set and have no need for the lower denoms. Plus, the guy I'm buying these from requires a minimum order of 500 chips, in lots of 100. I'd hate to have to order 500 of the 1000's. Nice try though.

I've yet to find out what the color of the 5000 chip is, but if it is gray like I believe it will be, it won't work with the gray 100's he has. So I'm feeling the only choice I have is to go with the 500/1000/5000 chips. I hadn't thought of starting the blinds at 500/500, but that's a very good idea Brewster.

I may try using the 2.50 (pink) chip as 25000, if I want to go the make-believe route. The 25 (green) chip would seem better, but that color is completely identifiable as a $25 chip, and pink chips are somewhat rare and unusual. I dunno. Do you think I can get away with using the pink chip?
