300 Chips - 4/5 Players

Hi,
I'm going to buy a set of 300 Chips but I'm still not sure of the combination. I would like to play with 4 to 5 players, 0.05-0.10 NL Hold'em. So a red chip would be worth 5 cents, a blue chip 10 cents...
And let's say that each player buys for 2 euro.

Thx

Go with $0.05, $0.25 and $1.00 - no need for a $0.10

either 125, 125, 50 - three colors should do ya
or
130,130, 40 - again 3 colors.

Re: 300 Chips - 4/5 Players

I would make the chips non denominational so if you ever decide to up the stakes your chips will not become obsolete.

my breakdown for a 300 piece set would be 100 - 150 - 50.

Re: 300 Chips - 4/5 Players

I agree with Mathew, .10 are worthless as well as .50 pieces, in this instance. Three colors are more than enough, I like three because it's easier to manage as well as keep track of the size of the other players stacks. Multiple colors, multiple denoms, and sloppy chip management can make for a long and some times chaotic game.

Re: 300 Chips - 4/5 Players

I'm not thinking too expensive... So i think i'm going for a basic suited chipcase. So they would be non denomational. Nevertheless i would like the colors to match the values i play with.
I can make up of your posts i should buy the red, green and black chips. And not start counting from white.
Do you guys play cashgames or small tournaments at home? Cause I was thinking cashgame, but maybe you have some arguments?

grtz

Re: 300 Chips - 4/5 Players

If you are thinking about getting some inexpensive chips it is my duty as a member of the faux clay nation to mention the best cheap chips on the planet: the Faux Clays. These are slugless (no metal insert) chips which out perform every chip in their price range. They feel great, stack like champs, and sound fantastic. The best feature though is the low price. These little beauties will cost around 5¢ per chip making them the best value around.

Here is a link to the review: http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/poker-...lay-chips.html

Whether you play cash games or tournaments, an non-denom chip will suit you just fine. If your typical game is 5¢/10¢ NL the red/green/black colour combo will be perfect. You could also use the same chips for a T1000 tournament using a breakdown of 100/150/50.

Cash game: red = 5¢, green = 25¢, black = $1

Tournaments: red = T5, green = T25, black = T100
- starting stacks for up to 8 players:
red (T5) - 10
green (T25) - 18
black (T100) - 5

This will be pushing the limits of your set but it is quite doable.
