planning on buying a 500 chip set for home game tournaments. i always play 25-25 starting blinds with starting stacks ranging from 1500 to 10,000. how should i breakdown to chips? my intial thoughts were this:

$25 x 160
$100 x 160
$500 x 100
$1000 x 60
$5000 x 20


this will cover 20 man T5000 and 10 man T10,000. we never play rebuys so that doesn't have to factored in.

what are your thoughts to this, chip breakdown would you go for?

20 man T5000

8xT25, 8xT100, 4xT500 and 2xT1000 uses all 160 of your T25 and T100, 80 of 100 T500 and 40 of 60 T1000. Leaving you T30,000 (20 of each) for color up - covered there. With plenty of higher value chips.

20xT5000 = T100k of chips in play.

Consider ending with just T1000 in play - you'll need 100 of them. You'll need the 160 of T25 and T100 and 80 T500 to start.

160+160+80+100 = 500

Uses all the T25,T100 and T500 to start (with 20 people) leaving the extra 60 T1000 chips to color all these up.

For my 500 chip tourney set I went with the following setup.

t25 x 150
t100 x 200
t500 x 100
t1000 x 50

Starting stacks (up to 8 players) for a t5000 tournament:
t25 x 16, t100 x 16, t500 x 6

Starting stacks (for 9 to 12 players) for a t5000 tournament:
t25 x 12, t100 x 12, t500 x 7

Starting stacks (for 13 to 18 players) for a t5000 tournament:
t25 x 8, t100 x 8, t500 x 4, t1000 x 2

All of the setups allow for the t25s and the t100s to be coloured up by the end of the tourney.
