Chips: 2,140 | | | Re: .50/1 NL chip breakdown problem You'll need very few of the .50 chips, I'd say 50 would be plenty, if it needs to be divisible by 20, then go for 40.
Lots of $1 chips maybe as many as 300. Then 100 $5 and the rest in $25. that would make:
40/300/100/60
You could vary it a bit, to something like
40/340/80/40
At this level you probably won't need $100 chips, but i guess you could do:
40/320/80/40/20
if you really wanted to. |

21player | So far, I like this breakdown:
60 x $.50
180 x $1
180 x $5
80 x $25
----------------
total 500 chips
If you like lots of starting chips, start each player with:
6 x $.50
17 x $1
16 x $5
---------------
39 chips, $100
Use the $25 chips for rebuys, and you'll have enough chips for 20 rebuys.
Since the $.50 chip is only used for SB or completing, six per player seems like enough to go several rounds without needing to make change. You might consider going with a $.25 chip instead, since it would make the set more versatile (and with a 500 chip set, you've got plenty of maneuvering room). If you do go with a $.25 chip, though, you'll want more than 60 of them.
If you want to start with fewer chips/player, use a $25 chip, and adjust the quantities of the others downward.
I don't see any use for a $100 chip here.

In general, I think Strange's approach would certainly play better in a limit game, since it has lots and lots of 1's. With this particular breakdown, though, there's not a lot of total $$ in chips, so you'd be limited to 7 rebuys, for example.
40/340/80/40
Starting stacks:
4 x $.50
33 x $1
8 x $5
1 x $25
------------------
46 chips, $100
With ten players, that would leave 30 $25 chips (and 10 x $1) availabe for rebuys.
I guess it depends on the style of your games...

Chips: 14,790 | | | Re: .50/1 NL chip breakdown problem All good recommendations - another to consider and I only say this from experience - I did a $.50 chip but just need to go to Kinkos to print the labels to make it a $.25. We added in some different games once ina while like 5 Draw and 7 stud which needed an ante.
Also consider having a chip with no denom - which could be worth the $.25 or the $.50 and have the denoms on the rest of the chips.
I would go
100 x $0.25 = $25
200 x $1 = $200
140 x $5 = $700
60 x $25 = $1500
Total = $2425 in cash
If you need more $$$ drop the $0.25 down to 80 chips and bump up the $25 to 80 chips (now $2920 in cash) or add in 20 chips worth $100 (now $4420 in cash).

Chips: 594 | | | Re: .50/1 NL chip breakdown problem 60 x .50 = $30
170 x 1.00 = $170
220 x 5.00 = $1100
50 x 25.00 = $1250
100 buyin:
6 x .50 = 3
17 x 1.00 = 17
11 x 5.00 = 55
1 x 25.00 = 25
leaves you at least 11 full rebuys using 5's and 25's |

Chips: 2,140 | | | Re: .50/1 NL chip breakdown problem Having seen Capt Lego's suggestion, I'd probably change mine a little. I like a lot of chips, and I don't get that many rebuys in a game, so i don't need 1000's of $$$
in value.
Maybe reduce the number of $1 and up the number of $5 a little.... | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
