I just cleared the PSO promotion for the 300 Nj's. I am going to upgrade to get the 500 set and choose my denominations.

We usually only play .25/.50 but the occasional .50/1 game.

Heres what I was thinking

200 25c chips
150 50c chips
100 1$ chips
50 5$ chips

By the end of the game we usually have about 150-225$ in the pot and with this set it will give me 475$ in chips. 250$ coming just from the 5$ chips.

I think this will be good but wanted to hear what other people thought.

I'm not big on having both a .25 and a .50.

If it's just cash - I would suggest

200 $0.25 = $50
250 $1 = $250
50 $5 = $250

$500 total

I agree that you should lose the 50 cent chips too. The above suggestion for the amount of chips looks good.

Whatever you end up with, you will love the Nevada Jacks. They are an excellent mid to high end set. Your buddies will all be impressed.
What site did you clear the pso promo on and how did you do financially while clearing it?

I did it at Absolute poker playing 1$/2$ limit

I had to Deposite 3 times but by the time i cleared the promo I was doing good and was able to cashout everything I put into the site and leave enough for me to still play with. So the set cost me nothing

I normally would prefer just 3 denoms, BUT I've played an irregular game with a brother-in-law and his friends. They use 25¢, 50¢, $1 and $5 chips, and it seems to work OK. The quarter chips are mostly used for antes and small bets, and most betting takes place with 50¢ chips and singles.

Their chipset is something like this:

100 x 25¢
150 x 50¢
200 x $1
50 x $5

Well I opted for:
200x $.25
200x $1
90x $5
10x $25

I do $0.25/$0.50 as well with a $25 buy-in. Figured I'd start everyone with 20x $0.25 and 20x $1. That puts all low denom chips in play right away for a full 10- man game and I can use the $5's for rebuys. Getting 10 $25 adds $200 to the amount the set will support over just getting 100 $5 for a total of $950. That's a lot for a $0.25/$0.50 game, but I know several players that will rebuy multiple times and I didn't want to run short. Since I got American Beauties, which are not denominated, I can say the Pinks are $0.50 instead of $0.25, so I can also more easily accommodate increasing the stakes to $0.50/$1, or even $1/$2 if I want. Not an option if you are getting NJ's or Desert Sands, but it influenced my decision to get more chips for the larger denoms than others have recommended.
