10xT5, 10xT25, 7xT100, 1xT500 = T1500 to start
Buy 80xT5, 100xT25, 80xT100, 40xT500 and you're covered with a few rebuys.
If extra players show up, change to 5/7/3/2 to start and you'll be tight, but OK to 12 players.

Chips: 3,968 | | | Re: 300 chips- 8 men It would be helpful to know what your structure is T100? T1000? and what your blind schedule is...
Asking for chip breakdown suggestions without that info is kinda like putting the cart before the horse.

Chips: 18,645 | | | Re: 300 chips- 8 men Depends which chips you like. You could either go with 5-25-100-500 or 25-100-500-1000. I prefer the higher denoms, and a Pharaoh's set is what we use for tourneys.
You can easily support 8 people with 300 chips. Here's a set that supports 10 people/rebuys:
80 x $25
150 x $100
40 x $500
30 x $1000
We use a starting stack with fewer of the lowest denoms, making the $100s the workhorse chips. We start with $25/50 blinds, and the green chips end up being used mostly for limps and blinds. You can get more players for your money if you don't buy too many of the lowest chips.
We have a nice T$5,000 tournament with this starting stack:
8 x $25
13 x $100
3 x $500
2 x $1000
Total 26 chips
You can color up the greens early in the tourney, and even color up the blacks if you wish. |

Chips: 500 | | | Re: 300 chips- 8 men If you are using a standard aluminum case for your chips, you can fit another 24 Paulsons in there (24 chips per row) so you can add a few more 500 chips if you wish.
