How do you feel about this chip breakdown?

I am about to get together 500 Paulsons for a cash/tourney set. Why I did this is a whole different matter. Anyway, I think i can make it work for a 20 man tourney. Here's how. My breakdown is 200x25, 100x50, 100x100, 50x500 and 50 x 1000. I know, I KNOW, it's too many colors and I don't need a 50 but I did it this way and it is my set and it is too late to change it.

So, 20 men, 500 chips - start with 10x25, 5x50, 5x100, 2x500 and 2x1000. Every guy gets $4,000 in chips and 24 chips to start.

Blinds start at 25/50 and go from there. I even have 15k left to color-up 25/50 if necessary.

Will this work? Is it too few chips to start? I know it is enough $ because I usually start my tourneys with like 31 chips at $3000.

Just want some thoughts.

Re: How do you feel about this chip breakdown?

Sure, that'll work for 20 people just like you figured. You'll have to use your $500s and $1000s to color up your $25s and $50s, and some of your $100s. At the end of the tourney you'll have 150 chips in play, which is a manageable stack for heads up.

The $25/50 blinds start you out at only 80 x BB, so your blinds are a little higher than most tourneys to start. As long as you don't raise blinds too quickly, you should be OK.

Re: How do you feel about this chip breakdown?

To get around the 80 x BB starting stacks you could go with a 25/25 starting blinds and step it up from there.

Re: How do you feel about this chip breakdown?

I think that is more then enough chips to start with. $4,000 to start with at 25/50 sounds like a fun tournament.

Re: How do you feel about this chip breakdown?

I think that it will work out just fine for a 20 man tournament. $4000 to start. That many chips is good too. But what would you do for a cash game? Are these NCV chips? Would your 25 be used as quarters?
