How many chips would you get?

I'm getting a custom set of chips from ASM and I'm trying to figure out my chip breakdowns. I want to use them for both cash and tourney set. The set denoms will be 25 100 500 1000 and maybe 5000 (not really sure I need the 5000) with no $ or cent signs. I will have from 8 to 16 players, and I like to start with a bigger stack.
How many chips do you guys think I will need for each denom and a starting breakdown?

Thanks
Mutt

Re: How many chips would you get?

I got a 500 chip set with those exact breakdowns.

I've had no problem playing 2 tables of 10.

Re: How many chips would you get?

200 25's
160 100's
100 500's
100 1,000's

12-7-4-2 setup for T5,000 for 16 players with enough to color up the 25's and 100's. Slightly more than $1,000 if you want to use them for cash games (25c, $1, $5, $10).

Re: How many chips would you get?

100 - 25
100 - 100
100 - 500
100 - 1000
100 - 5000

Simple breakdown, I start the blinds at 25/50, and go up every 20 mins. 25 chips are off the table by 100/200.

Starting stacks of $2,000
4 - 25
9 - 100
2 - 500

Re: How many chips would you get?

If you only play with 15 chips to start, and you only have 2,000 in chips, why would you need 1,000 chips or 5,000 chips?

Re: How many chips would you get?

16 players with relatively big stack (37) and 5000 in chips

20 x 25 - Total 320 x 25
10 x 100 - Total 160 x 100 + 80 x 100 to colour up the 25s = 240 x 100
7 x 500 - Total 112 x 500 + 48 x 500 if you want to colour-up the 100s = 160 x 500
Total 720 chips if you colour up the 100s.

You might want some 1000s. No need for 5000s.

Stack of 34:

16 x 25 - Total 256 x 25
11 x 100 - Total 176 x 100 + 64 x 100 = 240 x 100
7 x 500 - Total 112 x 400 + 48 x 500 = 160 x 500
Total 656 chips

Stack of 30:

12 x 25 - Total 192 x 25
12 x 100 - Total 192 x 100 + 48 x 100 = 240 x 100
5 x 500 - Total 80 x 500 + 48 x 500 = 128 x 500
1 x 1000 - Total 16 x 1000
Total 576 chips

Stack of 25:

12 x 25 - Total 192 x 25
7 x 100 - Total 112 x 100 + 48 x 100 = 160 x 100
4 x 500 - Total 64 x 500 + 32 x 500 = 96 x 500
2 x 1000 - Total 32 x 1000
Total 480 chips

Very small stack of 22:

8 x 25 - Total 128 x 25
8 x 100 - Total 128 x 100 + 32 x 100 = 160 x 100
4 x 500 - Total 64 x 500 + 32 x 500 = 96 x 500
2 x 1000 - Total 32 x 1000
Total 416 chips

Hope I didn't make too many mistakes in the calculations

TT

Re: How many chips would you get?

Never start with less than 30 chips per player. If you start with $1000 - $5000 per person you will NOT need a $5000 chip unless you have 5 tables.

From Dimes' list I like this one:

16 x 25 - Total 256 x 25
11 x 100 - Total 176 x 100 + 64 x 100 = 240 x 100
7 x 500 - Total 112 x 400 + 48 x 500 = 160 x 500
Total 656 chips

Order 260 green, 240 black, 80 purple and 70 yellow for a 650 chip set that will do pretty much anything you need (up to 16 players T5000 with 10 rebuys)

Re: How many chips would you get?

I like starting with 20 chips per person. That way each starting stack fills 1/5 of a 100 chip rack.

10 x $5
6 x $25
3 x $100
1 x $500
20 chips = $1000

This also makes clean up easier at the end.

Re: How many chips would you get?

Well, we play T10,000 tournaments, and I will be getting a 500 chip tournament set with my custom ASMs.

Chip ... Quantity ... Starting Stack
$25 x 100 (12)
$100 x 175 (17)
$500 x 125 (10)
$1000 x 75 (3)
$5000 x 25

We mostly play with 6-8 people, 42 chips each to start. Blinds starting at 25/50 and going from there. With that many people, the $5000 chips don't get used too often. I do have starting stacks worked out for my set somewhere for 16 and more people, but I'm not sure where I put it. It still would have a reasonable amount of chips to start each, though.

Re: How many chips would you get?

Ok thanks guys for the help. Now how about my break down for my cash game using the same 25 100 500 1000 set with a .50/1.00 blinds? I would still like a nice starting stack.

Thanks
Mutt
