40 Person Tournament w/Rebuys

My company is starting up a game and I need to know how many chips to order. I'd like to start people with T1500 and offer two rebuys. Can someone recco. the right number of chips and denoms, and a good blind schedule for at least 40 players? Thanks!

Re: 40 Person Tournament w/Rebuys

For 40 players (and 25 rebuys) with starting stacks of:
T5x10
T25x10
T100x7
T500x1
you would need:

T5x400
T25x500
T100x400
T500x150
T1000x100

or 1550 chips.

If you go to 5-7-3-2 (T5-25-100-500) which is very few chips,

you can decrease to 200-320-200-150-100 (adding T1000) which is 970 chips, probably the best you can do.

I'll leave the blinds schedule to you, but you could easily just take the schedule from P* and make the levels last as long as you need.

What's the breakdown for this schedule? It seems like it wouldn't be enough 5's and 25's to start with based on JL's breakdown...

T5 * 10
T25 * 10
T100 * 7
T500 *1

Occasionally a player may have to make change from a pot or another player, but nothing that wouldn't happen with other breakdowns.

This breakdown also converts easily to 1000 chip breakdowns:

320, 320, 300, 60

that leaves plenty of T100 and T500 for coloring up.

Hope that helps.

Based on that blind schedule, when do you do your colorups?

Re: 40 Person Tournament w/Rebuys

Color up reds at the first break, greens on the second, and then after an hour or so after that I color up a bunch of the blacks, but not all of them. If the tourney lasts all the way up to the final blinds then I color up all the blacks so that I can set up the next game while the guys who are left finish up. But I haven't ever had a tourney run that long .

That's great, thanks! Your schedule looks pretty good. I imagine that those are 15min. blinds?

Taylor the blinds to the length of time you want to play. Plan on the tourney ending when the SB+BB+antes are 8-10% of the total chips in play or maybe a bit sooner.
I usually have the first round go a little longer than the others because it usually takes a little while to get rolling.
