home micro cash setups?

i have been searching threads for home micro-limit setups...
mainly for cash games and really cheapo real money tournaments

a) just use real coins?..nah..i live here why would i do that..

b) how would you do your set up..nickles? dimes? quarters? .50? 1.00? to make a versatile yet USEFULL 5-10 person cash set up...for limit and nolimit cash games (all types incluing stud and omaha)...

personally i was gonna do a 500 peice set up with 0.25/0.50/1.00 chips but was curious if anyone here ever did a smaller set-up

is anyone even using nickles and dimes anyway, i know some of us play micro limits online...i wonder is some of my "cheapie" friends would be more willing to play more often if we played less "cash" stakes

Re: home micro cash setups?

I play the occasional micro-stakes games with a group of non-poker addicted friends. We use my tourney set 5, 25, 100, as 5c, 25c, $1. $5 or $10 buyin. 5c/10c blinds NL. Start with ten x 5c, ten x 25c, two - seven x $1.

I use my faux clays for those games. I am thinking of picking up a set of crystal oysters for the .05/.10 games. Just cause your playing low limits doesn't mean you can't have nice chips

Re: home micro cash setups?

We play our .25/.50 cent $20 buy-in ring games with the Jackpot Casino Coin Inlay chips, denominated at .25/$1.00/$5.00. They cost about .17 cents each if you hunt around, and are willing to buy at least 500.

As much as I'd like to get a nice set of custom ASM's or the likes for our weekly games, I have a hard time playing with chips that are in most cases worth more than the actual denomination on them!

If we ever grow to a $1/$2 game I'll probably upgrade the chips, since at least the $1 chip would be worth about $1.

For some reason though, we've found that the 25/50 cent level is the least amount we can use that still keeps the game "serious" when it comes to action and betting, like respect for a raise. We've tried playing for less, but when you push all-in as the chip leader for $4.50, it doesn't have the same effect as pushing in for, say $37.00. Playing for less than out levels equated to almost playing with peanuts or pennies.

...
I also use the Jackpoint coin chips in conjucnction with these coin inlay chips:
http://pjccmall.com/cgi-bin/shop/ind...T=32050205&SPD=

I like the Jackpot Casino chips but the chips in the link have a MUCH better feel and they sound and stack better as well. I like to describe these chips as a heavier Soprano 10g chips (because of the feel) with a coin inlay. Also, these chips are easily differentiated from one denom to another but some of the Jackpot chips look the too close under some lighting. The $1 white/purple Jackpot chips looks very close to the $5 white/red chip (the diff isn't obvious like it is in the pic) and a purple $1 chip just looked wrong to me. I didn't want to deal with the headache of a bet/pot misunderstanding so I bought $1 chips coin inlay chips (white/grey) from pjccmall (and $10 chips as well) and put the $1 Jackpot chips (200 of them) away and out of site.

Re: home micro cash setups?

I got my Sopranos for this reason. I host a large 32 man T1500, tournament then I sell cash chips so that as everyone busts out they can start out thier own cash games (I handle the money of course, but they[meaning each table/group] set the limits).

I have the chips in $5 bags with 10x.05 (grey), 10x.25 (blue), and 2 x$1(black). Then I have the rebuys in bags of just 20 x.25 ($5) or I will just hand them 5-? blacks depending on what they want to re-buy for.

That's funny, we've never had that problem... But I can see your point.

Then again we have a pool table light (3 lamp) right over our poker table hooked up to a dimmer, and that is pretty much the only light in the room except for the 15 watt over the cash register. It is better than casino lighting IMO.

We don't get too many $5 chips in play, and when they are, they are guarded like they are $5000 chips. We mostly use a 1000 total set of 500 25 cents, 400 one dollars and 100 $5.00 chips. Since these are definetly NOT the best stacking chips (more than 20 gets questionable) I prefer to try to keep the players somewhat colored up to having no more than $5.00 in "pinks," otherwise the chip stacks can get out of control. Picture $40-60 in 25 cent chips and you'll get the idea.

Re: home micro cash setups?

thanks for all the advice...

i think i am gonna start with a smal set-up something like
0.25-50 /0.50-200 /1.00-200 /and 5.00-50..that should cover .25/.50 NL and .50/1.00 limit just fine for 4-8 players no? i agree that smaler stakes might just not be worth it...

how does that sound?

could even use it as an emergency T20 sit n go tourney set...

now which ones...and how to break up my huge tourney set to sell (too big for us we realize now) to finance a purchase of a "nicer" cash set up...

look for a M2M sale/trade post soon...if i dont sell locally..
