Chips: 77 | | | Cash Game Breakdown Well I have a tourny set sorted... now for a cash one..
Looking for 8 player max 50c-$1 limit play.. $50 buyin..
Want to use 50c/$1/$5 chips so I can buy more of the chiproom paulsons.
How does this look for a break down ?
10 x 50c
20 x $1
5 x $5
I have $25 chips if people wanted to re-buy in.. I would probably get chip wise :
90 x 50c ( a few spare in case of badly damaged chips)
210 x $1 ( allows colour up if I did a low buyin tourny)
40 x $5 (not sure of I should get any extra.. these are brand new chips..)
Opinions welcome...
Cheers

Chips: 1,845 | | | Re: Cash Game Breakdown You're going to need quarters instead of 50c pieces if you want to play $.50/$1 limit as the blinds would be 25c/50c. Other than that, the breakdown looks good. You definitely want to load up on the $1 chips. We play a $1/$2 limit game and we use far more $1 chips than we do quarters. In fact, I probably have too many of them. |

My cash sets are very similar:
100 $0.50
200 $1
100 $5
for $750 in play with 400 chips or I drop down to 80 - $0.50 chips and bring the 20 - $20s - which gives me $1140 for a cash game and T900 (only 5 and 20 chips) for a 9 man T100 freezeout - pretty flexible set.
No problems for 8 guys - if you were nervous about how much - drop down to 80 - $0.50 and add 10 $25s

Chips: 187 | | | Re: Cash Game Breakdown if you are playing a limit game, you won't have any $5 bets, so why would you need a $5 chip? Also, the blinds in a true .50/1 limit game would be .25 and .50. I would think maybe 20 $.25, 20 $.50, 35 $1 per person, but that is just a guess |

Chips: 77 | | | Re: Cash Game Breakdown Aha... my beginners lack of knowledge shines through.. I guess then I mean a 1-2 limit game with blinds at 50c/$1.
I already have/coming 200 $25 / 150 $100 / 80 $500 / 5 $1000 and 5 $5000 plaques
thanks

edit: but i don't give them out to start. usually i give out 10 small blinds, and 35 of the workhorse chips.
so
10 X .50
35 X $1
my cash set's pretty big though (325 1s, and 100 .50s + tons of red (the lowend of my tourny set).
the reds only come out when needed (running low on 1s).

Chips: 1,845 | | | Re: Cash Game Breakdown My game is also a 1/2, although we also play with a kill. I have a 500 chip set though, so it's a little different, but here's my breakdown.
80 - $0.25
300 - $1
100 - $5
20 - $25
When we play, I usually give everyone 8 quarters and the rest in 1's to start. That's enough quarters to give a full 10 player game 8 each. It's plenty, probably too much as I ended up taking some off the table last time when we were 8 handed. For you, if you want to stick to a 300 chip set, going with a 50c chip is probably a good idea. You could get away with 40 of those or possibly fewer. That leaves more spots for 1's which you will need a ton of.
I only use the 5's for rebuys or buy-ins once we're out of 1's. The 25's are just for colorups at the end of the night to make cashing out easier on me.
For a 300 set, I would recommend maybe:
40 - 50c
200 - $1
60 - $5
That's $520 available in chips. Depending on your game, that might be a little tight, but I'd hate to go with fewer $1 chips. |

Chips: 1,401 | | | Re: Cash Game Breakdown i had some of the same questions...great answers above..
does anyone use their tourney set up for cash games by using larger demom chips bought at 10 cents on the dollar? (or some other ratio)
i already have approx 1300 chips but few low end'ers ($1 x 100) so i was thinking the 1/2 limit or .50/1.00 NL game to be played with only my $5 (x470) chips...should that be enough chips for a 6-8 player cash game at these levels?? use my $25's for rebuys by coloring up the big winners? i could do the same with my 310 $25 to play .50/1.00 limit and .25/.50 NL...and use my $100's (x350) as my workhorse chips..right?
or should i just bite into it and get a couple hundred $0.25's and more $1's??
thanks.. |

Chips: 1,845 | | | Re: Cash Game Breakdown I don't have a problem with the chips doing double duty and I've certainly done it before. Most recently when I had sold my ASMs but my Egyptians weren't here yet. There are some that will disagree with me though, I'm sure. I just made it easy and did divide by 100. So my greens were quarters and my blacks were $1's.
The main concern I think there is with doing this is what kind of crowd do you have? Using chips for tourney and cash games could lead to confusion especially if both games are going on at the same time. Beyond confusion, if you have some "unscrupulous" folks in your game, you've got to watch out for someone palming tourney chips and then trying to cash out with them from the cash game. I don't have this concern with my group and we almost never have a cash game and a tourney going on at the same time. But obviously since I'm a member of this board, I just had to have separate sets for the 2 games! | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
