It would help if you posted some add'l info like average number of players and some details of your cash and tournament structures. With only 500 chips, it may be tough to get a separate set for cash games and tournaments.
More information regarding number of players and stakes is necessary. However, it's generally a a mistake to just get even amounts of all denoms. Your set isn't really optimized when you do that. I'd probably go with something more like:
100 1
250 5
100 25
50 100
Read Matthew's excellent article here: http://chiptalk.net/forum/showthread.php?t=11258 where he explains all you'll ever need to know on chip colors/denominations and breakdowns. In particular, he addresses designing a set for both tourney and ring game play in mind.
I agree. I cannot think of any situation in which I would pick the numbers of denominations that you propose. Please provide what cash limits you plan on playing with the number of players, and the starting chip stacks for players of a tournament.
I just ordered a set that will perform double duty as both a tournament and a cash set. My 500 chip break down is as follows:
150 green (T25 or $.25)
200 black (T100 or $1)
100 purple (500 or $5)
50 orange (1000 or $.10)
I run a T5000 tournament and this set can accomodate 12 player quite comfortably and up to 16 with some smaller stacks. For our cash game we use $.10 SB and $.25 BB (not too rich but good for a $20 buy in). You could use the T1000 chip as a $10 chip to increase the versatility of your set though.
