is this a good deal?

http://www.vegassuppliesandgifts.com...90-10-CARRIER/

i was going to get this set with the acrylic case and trays as a starter set some low stakes limit games. after shipping, it comes to about $177.

there are usually 6-8 players and the games would probably be .25/50 up to $1/2... maybe higher as time goes by.

so i was thinking:

300 white
400 blue
200 yellow
100 black

their values would be in that order (white is lowest) and the chips would be non-denominational.

so is it a good deal? i do get the trays and awesome case. and how about my chip count of each color? thanks guys!

Re: is this a good deal?

don't pay $170 for this setup.

you can get the racks and the birdcage for about $40. (see ebay item #6238195976 - no affiliation to seller, but i have bought one from him).

the chips should cost you less than $60. check out ebay item #6238136236 as an example (again, no affiliation, but i bought my old dice set from this guy). that's 1,000 chips and 2 aluminum cases for $55 shipped.

together that's 1,000 chips, 10 racks, 2 aluminum cases, and the acrylic birdcage for $95 done deal.

that said, if you're willing to spend $170, you can get better chips like faux clays or sopranos. they stack better, come in a bunch of colors, and are readily available from a bunch of retailers for pennies per chip. you can get 1,000 faux clays for $50 + shipping. . .

hope that helps,
gw-

Re: is this a good deal?

how about this one then?

http://www.discountcasinogear.com/st...oduct1376.html

i found the same thing but cheaper.

how are these chips going to sound or feel? anybody know?

and as far as the faux clay ones go... i googled and this is what i found:
http://www.discountcasinogear.com/store/product943.html

i really do like these colors and they are the same weight as the ones i originally wanted. so would these be better bang for the buck?

Re: is this a good deal?

You won't find anyone here that will recommend you get those chips.
Slick, slugged, no resale value.
You can get better chips cheaper.
Faux clays, or Sopranos come recommended.
Or Nexgens, which you could label. And if you didn't label them, would hold a little bit of resale value at least. (You hang around here, you're gonna want to upgrade! guaranteed )

Check out Hogwild. I recently purchased 1,000 Nexgens with birdcage and 10 racks at as good a price as you'll find.
And he made me some labels as well!
http://chiptalk.net/forum/showthread.php?t=9378

ps. pick you up some Copags from him while your at it, and save on shipping.
Best price I've found anywhere.

Nexgens

faux clays

Sopranos

Those aren't the faux clay's everyone is talking about...

Try this link - http://www.discountcasinogear.com/st...oduct1062.html

And if you like/want edgespots - http://www.discountcasinogear.com/st...oduct1442.html

Also, Unicorns - http://www.holdempokerchips.com/products.asp?cat=33
may be within your budget, but they are a little lighter in weight and I don't particularly like the mold. If being a little lighter isn't an issue, you might look at super diamonds... http://www.discountcasinogear.com/store/product747.html

And if you might want to label them in the future and want cool edgespots, then you could always go for the Nexgens....
http://www.personalpokerchips.com/in...ctID/3,2573769
(price WITH custom labels)

Yep, lots of choices in your price range. If you really want edgespots, I would chose Sopranos, if you think you might want labels now or in the future - I guess I would get the Nexgens.

I like the Sopranos best I think.... or the unicorns..... OR....

Re: is this a good deal?

By the way, there are many different styles of Nexgens, you can see them all on the discountcasiongear.com web page. I would still order them from personalpokerchips.com though!

Re: is this a good deal?

so then these would be good chips to get? this seems like a good deal. i mean, these are the same chips that hog wild would give me right?

https://www.discountcasinogear.com/s...oduct2217.html

when this site calculated my shipping, it only came out to 20 dollars for UPS Ground... i was expecting at least twice that. any ideas why its so cheap? i mean, these are the same 12 gram NEXGEN chips that i would get anywhere right?
