Question Need help with breakdown.

Hi. I’m going to buy a chipset for a $1/$2 NLHE ring game with 4-6 players. I plan to buy 400-500 chips in three denominations. $1, $5, $25. How many chips of etch denomination should I get? I’ve searched the forums and read the article on chip breakdowns by Matthew but I’m still in the dark on this one. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Need help with breakdown.

I'm no expert on ring games, but I would probably go with

$25 x 50
$5 x 150
$1 x 200-300 depending on howmany you get.
That gives you $2200+ in chips which should be more than enough.

Re: Need help with breakdown.

Too easy.

Here's one breakdown:

So it looks to me like:
125 x $1
100 x $5
25 x $25
---------------
250 chips

would be plenty for 6 people, $100 buyin with 6 rebuys.

If you want to support $200 buyins and rebuys, just buy 50 more $25 chips:

125 x $1
100 x $5
75 x $25
----------------
300 chips

If you're going to buy 400 - 500 chips, you can have much more flexibility in your games. Which way would you like to go? More players? Different games (limit, tourney, etc) Different stakes?

Re: Need help with breakdown.

Thanks for the help guys. I already have a chipset for tourneys so I think I will go with something like:
200-250 x $1
100-150 x $5
50 x $25
