Chips: 684 | | | Limit Game Chip Setup Hey guys, I am trying to come up with a chipset breakdown that will be used in various limit games.
For a 50¢/$1 limit game:
1) How many 25¢ chips per player?
2) How many $1 chips per player?
3) Any $5 chips?
For a $1/$2 limit game:
1) How many 25¢ chips per player?
2) How many $1 chips per player?
3) How many $5 chips per player?
For a $2/$4 limit game:
1) How many 25¢ chips per player?
2) How many $1 chips per player?
3) How many $5 chips per player?
I would like to accomodate up to 16 people in the 50¢/$1 & the $1/$2 games and up to 8 people in the $2/$4 games. Would this be achievable with say a 750 chipcount? |

Chips: 1,728 | | | Re: Limit Game Chip Setup Realistically, in a casino or cardroom setting you would only need one denomination of chips for each of the games. 25¢ chips for the .50/$1 and $1/2 games, and $1 chips in the $2/4 game. There's no need for a $5 chip in any of the games. In a home setting, you may want to include $1 chips in the .50/1 and 1/2 games just to reduce the amount of chips necessary, however a $5 chip wouldn't be in play at all other than for change-making purposes. If the bulk of the games are going to be in the .50/1 and 1/2 range, I'd suggest a lot of .25 chips (400?) and the remainder in $1 chips. Perhaps go to 800 chips with an equal amount of .25 and $1 chips.
Insofar as breakdowns, it would depend on the buy-in. For a $20 buyin on the .50/1 game, maybe 20-.25 and 15-$1, and for the 1/2 maybe a $30 buy-in with 20-.25 and 25-$1 for the 1/2 game. Having 400 $1 chips would enable you to go for up to a $50 buy-in for the 2/4 game with 8 players, using all of the $1 chips, and the players would have to buy chips from each other for rebuys. Chips: 5,789 | | | Re: Limit Game Chip Setup For a 50¢/$1 limit game ($25 buyin x 16)
12 x .25 = $3 (16 x 12 = 192)
17 x $1 = $17 (16 x 17 = 272)
1 x $5 = $5 (16 x 1 = 16)
For a $1/$2 limit game: ($50 buyin x 16)
8 x .25 = $2 (16 x 8 = 128 )
23 x $1 = $23 (16 x 23 = 368 )
5 x $5 = $25 (16 x 5 = 80 )
For a $2/$4 limit game: ($100 buyin x 8 )
25 x $1 = $25 (8 x 25 = 200)
15 x $5 = $75 (8 x 15 = 120)
192 x $0.25
368 x $1
120 x $5

680 chips minimum | is 25 times the Big Bet a reasonable number to assume for a normal low stakes home game? |

Chips: 5,789 | | | Re: Limit Game Chip Setup Its reasonable but could be less (tight) or more (aggresive) but its a decent starting amount. If you think about it in context to .50/1 game, call preflop, 2 bets on the flop, 2 bets at the turn and 1 bet at the river is $4.50 which is just under 20% of your stack. |

Chips: 1,071 | | | Re: Limit Game Chip Setup I think get the minimum you can live with of the lowest denom since you seem to be interested in playing higher stakes. I have 180 non denom chips that I use for 25¢ or for 50¢ if needed, but I have over 500 $1 chips since that is the work horse for my home games. That may be a little overkill, but I had all of them in play during my last cash game since we were playing $100 max buy-in nlhe and had 8 players. |

Chips: 15,957 | | | Re: Limit Game Chip Setup we play 1/2 and i have
100 X .50 (sb)
400 X 1
100 X 5
the 5's have come into play quite often, in longer games where we get more cash on the table. the 100 5's ensure that we'll have enough for this game.
i understand PR's point about going with one denom. but in order to be able to bankroll some of my "bigger" 1/2 games with just quarters, i'd have to have 2500 chips! that's just not doable (or desireable) |

Chips: 684 | | | Re: Limit Game Chip Setup Ok, so I'm thinking to get the following:
200 x 25¢
400 x $1
150 x $5
I think that should play pretty well for the limit games as well as the no-limit games we play.
Now I just have to decide on my ASM colors/edgespots and finalize my inlay to have the my order ready for the new year.
Thanks guys. |

Chips: 1,071 | | | Re: Limit Game Chip Setup Just a quick check on your set up. Add the total $ value. Yours is $1200 - if you ever play a $100 buy-in game than you need some more higher denom chips - $25s so that you can support a full table and more than just 2 re-buys. If $50 is the max you all buy-in for than you are probably just fine. |

If $50 is the max you all buy-in for than you are probably just fine. | I am planning on buying a full set of 1500 custom chips. These 750 for my cash games, and 750 for my tourney set (250 each of $25, $100, $500 - very flexible breakdown, allows us to play pretty much anywhere from T1000 - T5000 with rebuys and even T10000 without rebuys, slightly dependant on number of players that show of course).
My intention is to not mix the two sets, i.e. no tourneys will have any denom smaller than a $25 and no cash game will have any denom larger than a $5 in an effort to keep any potential chip movement ($25 chip from a tourney down to the cash side game or in the next weeks cash game). That said, all 1500 chips will be present at all games, so if we are playing a large cash game (which is unlikely to ever happen on a tourney night, only potential to happen on a cash game only night) and the need arises I can bring in some of the tourney $25 chips to fill up, I'll just have to make doubly certain the chip counts are right at the end of the night & potentially whenever people cash out. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
