Ok guys, I've upped my anty a little bit. Planning on 1000 chips in my cash game set. My plan is to be able to issue a maximum of $100 for up to 16 players in varying cash games from NL $0.25/$0.50 to Limit $0.50/$1, $1/$2, and $2/$4.
Based on that, which do you think would be the better way to go?
16 x .25 = $4 (16 x 16 = 256 + 9 spares = 265)
31 x $1 = $31 (16 x 31 = 496 + 9 spares = 505)
14 x $5 = $70 (16 x 14 = 224 + 6 spares = 230)
=======================================
976 chips needed = $105/player + 24 spares
or
20 x .25 = $5 (16 x 20 = 320 + 15 spares = 335)
25 x $1 = $25 (16 x 25 = 400 + 15 spares = 415)
15 x $5 = $75 (16 x 15 = 240 + 10 spares = 250)
=======================================
960 chips needed = $105/player + 40 spares
Do you plan on using chip racks? This might help you keep track of your chips a little better (considering the possiblity that you "might" mix the two sets). If this is the case I would make the amounts in multiples of 20 (or 25 if you use boxes).
This is just a suggestion.

Are you sure that you want a total of $105 in the second set of numbers? I like the second set with 14 x $5, or you could even have 20, 20 and 15, but I think that I would buy a few $25 chips too. For a cash game 50 or so would be nice for rebuys etc.

Yup, the $105 allows for $100 when playing $2/$4 with only $1's and $5's.
I will have 25's for my tourney set which I can pull down for a big cash game, although I think that will be rarity, our games don't normally go that big and when they do it is usually a smaller group.

For the foreseable future they will be stored in a 1000 chip aluminum case since my game moves around a lot. Hopefully someday when I have the room I will build a custom table with a dealer chip drawer which will hold racks. When/if that happens I will even up the quantities to be in increments of 20.
