Re: Chip Breakdown Calculator ** Version 0.4 now available **

Thanks MattH!

I changed my Regional and Language settings (Win XP SP2)
Finnish/Finland --> English/United States

Now Chip Breakdown Calculator works fine!

spooky. Who'd have thunk it?

But now maybe I can change my settings to Finnish/Finland and debug what's going on!

excellent detective work, guys.
thanks.

OK guys, I was able to do an update on the calculator. There's a new version (0.4.1) available for download at http://www.captlego.com/Download.html

This fixes the problem it had with the localization settings (for all you guys that were getting that set_param error).

Unfortunately, you'll have to download and run the new MCR Installer (which is now bloated to 100MB ) Man, I'll be glad to get weaned from that hog... (If you've downloaded the older version of this, you can uninstall it if you want.)

Then download and unzip the breakdown4.1.zip file and run breakdown4.exe.

Thanks again to MattH for finding the problem.

Good to hear that he new version works for you.

The tourney/cash button is a toggle. It controls the colorup calculation.
The "colorup" button will recompute the colorup chips required. (This button is handy if you've manually overridden the starting chips and need to recalculate the colorup chips required.)
If the the tourney/cash toggle is set to "cash", then the colorups will be set to zero.

For example, launch the calculator, and hit "Auto for Game". Then toggle the toruney/cash button and hit the "colorup" button to see how it changes things.

Similarly, the "Totals" button will just recompute the chip totals required. (This is handy when you've manually overridden some of the colorup allocations, for example.)

When I redo this, I'm thinking of just putting checkboxes for each denomination to control the colorup calculation, since you normally don't want to colorup every single denomination. The "Auto" button will suggest which chips should be colored up (by checking their boxes automatically), and the "cash" setting will uncheck all the boxes. But you could then manually decide which chips to colorup if you wanted, simply by checking the corresponding boxes/denominations.

Re: Chip Breakdown Calculator ** Version 0.4 now available **

Capt - you still wrestling with this 100MB chip calc? The algorithms cant be that hard. PM me or post them. I'll look at it. i dont care want programming language its in.

to be honest, the core code should remain the same. I look at javascript as a horrible programming language used to bridge the necessary gaps between the web and dueling web technologies. no scope?!!? realistically - long term projects deserve DHTML/Ajax and XML/CSS etc.

it shouldnt be rocket science.

if you want help PM me... I understand if you want to do it by yourself.

Lego, take this guy up on his offer. If we can get that app down to like 75 -80 MB, we can make it a link on the nav menu.

If we are able to get it to work with html/javascript, then it wouldn't matter. Our goal is to make it a page on this site, like the other two "Site Tools" on the nav menu up top.
