That's the same error Strange was getting. I suggested re-installing the MCR Inataller.

Did that work for you, Strange?

21player, did you download and run the MCR Installer?

Yep. I have downloaded and re-installed MCR Installer several times
--> same error every time.

Can I run Breakdown_Calculator.zip files (breakdown.exe) from any folder?

Yeah, you should be able to run breakdown.exe from any folder. You will need to unzip tha .zip file, though, since the calculator needs to access the other files there.

I don't know what your problem is. Sorry.
I can't reproduce it here.

I just got back from the bookstore with about $100 worth of books on JavaScript programming. I think that'll be the way to go for a future version of this calculator, which will make it much more accessible. The next step is for me to find a few days to work on it...

So, did you get one book or two?

Actually, I got 3:
A beginner's guide to HTML (since I don't know much about that, either), by Wendy Willard
Teach Yourself JavaScript in 24 hours by Michael Moncur, and
JavaScript Bible, by Danny Goodman w/ Michael MOrrison

Re: Chip Breakdown Calculator ** Version 0.4 now available **

I just noticed another calculator (done in a PDF form?) over at HomePokerTourney. I've never run CaptLego's stand-alone calculator, so I don't know how the features of the two compare. The HPT calculator seems pretty simple, though.

Thanks for the pointer. I didn't know you could do that with a PDF.
That calculator is pretty simple.
My calculator will do that. Plus, I have some additional features:
1) It will automatically suggest a starting chip distribution for any buyin
2) It handles rebuys and colorups.
3) It has an additional page for a variety of games. (The hard part about determining a chip breakdown is when you want to support a variety of games.)

I have in mind some additional enhancements:
a) some improvements in the suggested distributions
b) more flexibility (or maybe smarter) colorup calculations
c) input for your existing chipset, so the calculator will try to use the chips on hand, or you can see how many additional chips you might need

Re: Chip Breakdown Calculator ** Version 0.4 now available **

will your calculator also suggest a blinds schedule that would work for the denom's you have on hand? (to go along with the colorup feature)

and if so will you suggest blinds schedules for the various games (lim/NL etc?)

hope i did not ask already answered or obvious questions...

sb

It doesn't do that yet, but it is something I thought would be worth adding.
Thanks for the suggestion!

Re: Chip Breakdown Calculator ** Version 0.4 now available **

Oh.. I also tried to install it... and got the same set_param error. Had a play around and found the runtime libs a pain to unistall as it could not remove one of the runtime dll (the en one) then when checking out the properties ir mentioned US english.. I wonder if the probs for me and strange have been becasue our Xp's will be running UK language/region/kb settings rather than US ?
