Chips: 1 | | | Tool for Caclulating how many chips you need I created an excel sheet that helps you calculate chip totals (mainly for tournaments):
where: Code: SS Value = Starting Stack Value
SS C/P = Starting Stack Chips per Player
CU C/P = Coloring up chips needed per Player
T C/P = Total Chips needed per Player
# of P = # of players
Total C = Total Chips. This can be downloaded here: http://www.captlego.com/Download.html
it is the 4th file.
Captain Lego has some that are much more robust; this one is merely intented to keep things as simple as possible, with minimum parameters to input.
Thanks Captain. If you have problems changing the blue cells here is the password: cacapis

I would love to see your tool made available here, and maybe something similar created for cash games. |

I can host yours too, if you'd like.
I think that my spreadsheet could stand a few enhancements....
For one thing, I'd like to make it available to people that don't have excell.
It should handle a variety of games (limit/no limit, cash, tourney, etc.)
It should handle a range of stakes
It should handle non-denoms
It should handle a range of game sizes
The spreadsheet I have can do all of that, but it's kinda a manual operation. Perhaps it could be made easier to use and smarter...
I'd like to enhance the colorup calculations to make it a bit more flexible there, too.
What would you guys like to see?

Chips: 1,736 | | | Re: Tool for Caclulating how many chips you need Nice work Capt, I just downloaded your spreadsheet and I have begun to take a look. I think the simplicity in ahopen's spreadsheet is where the appeal is at. Something that I think will be important is the ability to change the number of denoms that you have to work with (ie. someone only has a 4 color chip set to work with, what is the best way to maximize its use, or they have 6 colors and want to see them all).
Forgive me if your spreadsheet can do this as I am just getting a few minutes to look at it. Yours is a bit more intimidating as I'm not sure which cells are ok for me to alter and which ones might mess up a formula. Quote: |

Chips: 5,794 | | | Re: Tool for Caclulating how many chips you need Might as well add mine to the bandwagon.
It can be used for setup of tournament (payouts, blinds, etc) as well as calc'ing the number of chips required.
Enjoy. http://home.comcast.net/~hachkc/tourney_setup.xls |

Chips: 494 | | | Re: Tool for Caclulating how many chips you need I've been using the spreadsheet created by hachkc for the last month trying to figure out the perfect balance for my new chips. It has been a valuable tool in calculating everything from starting stacks, to chipset conguration. Props to you hachkc!
