Chip totals

Normaly we play with 5 denominations but my new set will have 4 denominations.($25 $100 $500 $1000) We would give each person a stack of 10 $25, 10 $50, 10 $100, 5 $500 and 3 $1000 but since the new set does not have the $50 chip I was wondering how we should distribute the chips now? The blinds start at $25/$50 and go up every 20 minutes or so.

Re: Chip totals

Depending on what I want the stacks to start at, I use:

T2500: 20xT25, 20xT100
T5000: 20xT25, 20xT100, 5xT500
T10,000: 20xT25, 20xT100, 5xT500, 5xT1000

Personally, I would choose the T5000 and save the 1000 chips for coloring up.

Re: Chip totals

That seems like a lot of $25 chips to have especialy when the blinds go up every 20 min. Once the blinds reach $100 the $25 are not really needed. I guess it doest really mater what amount everyone gets as long as they all get the same to start.

Re: Chip totals

I personally do not like handing out as many chips. I start like this

8 - 25
8 - 100
2 - 500

For a T2000 tournament. You can add more 500 chips and 1000 chips to make it a T 5000 or T10000. I use the same hand out for my tournaments that have antes and we have the 25 chips around for the first 6 levels or so, because of the antes.

If I have less players I have handed out 12 - 25, 12 - 100 and 1 - 500. But both seem to work fine. People have to make change from the pot occasionally, but we have a full time player dealer at each table and we all know how to deal pretty well and handle making change out of the pot.

Re: Chip totals

My rules for chips distribution:

The more players the fewer chips.

The fewer players the more chips.

For my normal one table job, everyone gets 20-40 depending. Go beyond one table and you start working your way towards 20 chips. In general I don't like to start folks with under one standard (20) stack.
