Chips: 446 | | | Help me host my own game/ Breakdown help Here is the chips I have, I know people will say I don't need a $50 chip but I like it so there!.. Tornament setting....6 people..$15 buy in so I was thinking about 1500 in chips, but that is not set in stone. Here is what I was planning on doing,,Tell me what you think and any changes you would make
First off...my Chip totals
$5 - 91
$25 - 65
$50 - 71
$100 - 61
Ok so here is what I was planning on doing
$100 - 7
$50 - 10
$25 - 10
$5 - 10
That uses most of my chips, while leaving lots of $100 for coloring up later on. Little worried since a starting stack of only 37 chips, but I think it should work.
If need be I also have 5 - 25c chips I could use as additional 25s, and I have 8 $500's as well.
As for blinds, I thought of something like this..Up every half hour or less
5/10
10/20
20/40
25/50
50/100
75/150 |

Chips: 50 | | | One thing I do to eliminate the color up issue is to figure the total amount of the lowest chip ( 10 -$5 chips per person with ten people = 10x$5=$50x10=$500) then set aside that amount of chips of the next denom to allow for coloring up (so in this case you'd put 20 $25 chips ($500)aside) and you can use the rest for distributing with original buy-in. You'd just do the same for each denom as you see fit (I usually only color up one or two denoms before the game ends). O fcourse for just a few folks coloring up is pointless as tourneys don't usually last that long as long as blinds progress steadily.

Chips: 5,794 | | | Ditto on the HPT link.
A few other comments.
Usually starting stacks are between 50x - 100x the starting BB. This will vary depending on the progression of your blinds. If you take the default HPT Blind Schedule, your chip count looks good with 75x BB. This is a typical home tournament. If you move down to 5/10 from 10/20, you'll have slower tournament where skillful play is rewarded more as the cards and not the blinds determine what hands are playable, at least early on.
A T1500 tourney starting with 5/10 blinds and 30 minutes level's is probably a much more relaxed tournament than most home games but places more emphasis on skill rather than who's getting cards early. Sounds like fun just be aware that this tournament may easily take 4 hours depending on the type of players. |

Chips: 1,526 | | | T1500 breakdown is good, we use the same one most times.
Here is the structure we use most times:
15min blinds, sometimes 20min
5/10
10/20
15/30
20/40
25/50
Color Up 5's with spare 25's
50/100
75/150
100/200
150/300
Color Up 25's with spare 50's/100's
200/400
300/600
400/800
500/1000
You should probably end here or close to it.
I would then add an ante like this:
50/500/1000
100/500/1000
100/750/1500 |

Chips: 446 | | | I'm thinking about putting the blinds at 10/20 to start instead of the 5/10. Never thought about how slow it would go. Should I go to 15/30 to start possibly?
This will be a super relaxed game so I am not overly worried about time or anything of that sort. Just a small gathering of a few friends. No pro players here. We play all the time for fun, trying it for some money this time.
As for coloring up, I don't think I would do it, but I do have many $100's left and might do it for the heck of it if the game is still going once the blinds are in the 100's.
I have been looking on HPT a lot, but just wanted to see what some of you guys thought about it.
I think I have it set out as best as I can, at least until I get some more chips in my set. |

Chips: 934 | | | I think I'd stay with 5/10 for starting blinds, but just shorten your rounds a little bit. We usually play 20 minute rounds at the beginning and usually move to 15 minutes when we're down to 3 people. And there's really no reason you can't make a change part way thru the tournament, as long as everyone agrees to it. If you start out with 30 minute rounds and it just seems like it's going to slow, just take a vote and speed it up a little. It can take a few tourneys to find the right mix. |

I will probably be doing this once a month at least, this is my first so I want to have it as perfect as possible. Once this one is done I will get lots of feedback from everyone and be able to fix anything I think needs fixing. But my goal is to have it perfect on the first try. Never happen but doesn't hurt to try |

At 5/10 your at 150x the big blind and with 30 minutes blinds that will be a long tourney (unless you've got some allin cowboys). I start our game with 100x the big blind and 20 minute rounds for levels 1 - 6, and 15 min rounds for level 7 and beyond | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
