My annual trip to Vegas. This time set during March Madness. I have an important business dinner a couple of days preceding this event which culiminates in some good news. I put together a schedule that has me playing almost 45 hours of poker over 3 days. Crazy, I know.

It's the night before my trip and I manage to get the kids to sleep. I finish packing and add-on some Baseball mags and the Baseball Forecaster. I have a fantasy baseball draft to a brand new keeper league I have just been invited too the day after I return. Doh!

With two small kids and a demanding job (I work 6 days a week), my life is pretty hectic. I try to organize a meetup with Rimmerryan and Felix and some 2+2 ers, but I miss Felix's e-mail and I can only hope that he got the one saying I was going to be in the PH poker room on the Thursday night from 6PM onwards.



Suitcase is all packed. I have my satchel carrying my iPad with episodes of HSP and PAD to tide me over on the flight. I'm just hoping to win the airplane lottery and avoid sitting beside anyone "off-putting"...



I get up early and have to shave. It's my only chance of getting past the brownshirts with a minimum of hassle...




Arrive at the airport and I'm pretty stoked. Vegas, baby, Vegas!

Dear Middle-Aged Men. I'm sure at some point you had some "cannons". But wearing a cut-off sweater with a pot belly to show off your "guns" is LOL. Please, just let it go....



Waiting at the airport lounge. Unfortunately I'm fighting something and I have some sort of searing pain in my left eye. I can only hope that the magical rejuvenating powers of Vegas take hold and cure me of my ailments.

Getting seated. So stoked! I should be sleeping but can't. Seated next to a couple of college kids. Unfortunately the kid beside me keeps dropping bombs which makes the flight a tad... unpleasant...

Airborne, flying over Colorado...



We have entered Nevada airspace!!! Should be sleeping, but just totally pumped to play. When you have two small kids and a crazy job, all your free time becomes even more precious. So this one trip for four days is the equivalent of a 1 or 2 month vacation for a 21 year-old.

For better or for worse, I am determined to squeeze every minute of poker I can out of this trip...

Grabbing luggage from McCarran. I am almost punch drunk, so at one point I think that I have managed to leave the customs area without my luggage. I panic, but finally realize that my luggage is just on another carousel. That should have been a warning signal going off...



I am dismayed to hear the shuttle line is 15 minutes, but fistpump when I find out that the taxi line is almost an hour long.

Inbound to the hotel...



Back entrance to another standard degen destination. My first time staying here..



No $20 trick for me as I will be spending under 12 hours sleeping in total over 3 nights. I still was feeling under the weather so I just asked for as quiet a room as I could get. Degens gonna degen...



As I headed to my room I passed Security on my floor helping someone get into his own room. It just felt kinda sketchy and not a great feel for my first stay at this hotel...

Head down the street to grab a steak at Outback. No fanfare, just a nice quick meal and then off to play some pokerz!

Sit down and buy-in Limon style to a $1/2 NLHE game at Bally's. I tried to move up and down the trip based upon my location at IP. I used Google Maps to optimize my trip, minimizing walking distance and maximizing pokerz times!



I'm in for $200 and have won and lost a couple of hands. New guy who recently sat down makes it 15 to go in early position. I'm in the BB with AcKc with $160. Standard Old White Guy (SOWG) calls in middle position and I pop it up to 45. The new guy comes over top for 100 total. SOWG guy calls. I then look over at new guy and realize it is someone I used to play MTG with from way back in the day!!! I ship all-in, he thinks about it and calls, and then SOWG calls.

Flop comes down as you can see with 2 clubs. Unfortunately it is not to be and I brick out. New Guy had JJ and I'm pretty sure SOWG had AK.It's funny because New Guy bet like 60 into the sidepot between them on the flop and SOWG had like $40 behind and folded, lol.



I rebuy and rebuild my stack, but no real hands of note and I finish down the first session down 70 BB after 1 hour and 40 minutes. Not a great start to the trip.

I decided to rack up and head down the strip, as it's Thursday night and I was hoping to meet up with some Chiptalkers and 2+2'ers at Planet Hollywood.

Next up: My trip to PHO.

Up next, the sickest poker table I have ever seen with 2 rounds of Jaeger shots, drunk guy falling off his stool, a $2k pot at 1/2 NL, be careful of what you wish for - you might just get it, and a drunk guy jokely goes all-in blind, the floor holds him too it and he gets called by the nit and the guy who just got out of jail.
