Rochester, NY Poker

Rochester NY Poker | Rochester Tournaments | Cash Games

I grew up outside of Rochester, NY and am going to head up there to see my folks for X-Mas/New Years and I discovered this place and was wondering if any local CT'ers played there. One of the locations was on Lyell Ave. so I guess I'll drive my Pope Mobile and wear my Kevlar vest if I go play.

So is what they are doing here absolutely stupid and asking for trouble?!? They run touneys, a 1/1 NL game and play table games and take sports action...

Article 1, Section 9 of the New York State Constitution states that:

[N]o lottery or the sale of lottery tickets, pool-selling, book-making or any other kind of gambling [except state-run lotteries and state-sponsored pari-mutuel betting on horse races] shall hereafter be authorized or allowed within this state; and the legislature shall pass appropriate laws to prevent offenses against any of the provisions of this section.

I'm tempted to check it out because it would be a little closer than Seneca Niagara and Allegany casinos from my parents' place. The place looks clean and well thought out and seems decked out pretty nice inside.

Yeah, this won't last long. I used to live in Rochester and recall a similar place on the East side that got shut down about 5-6 years ago. I think the owner had even gone as far to get a business permit for the place, but he still got nailed. In general, RPD seemed to be rather vigilant in policing card rooms, etc. when I lived there.

I remember that incident, also just this year another one of these type of rooms was busted near Albany.

Personally something that "well" publicized is bound to get busted, and I would stay away from it.

Ah yes, but they left behind some really nice Chipcos. I have around 1,500 of them.

So it might be worth a visit to the new place just to scope out the chips...

Hey, any news on the place? Did you end up visiting? I can't find much info on the net, and I don't have the balls to just stroll into an illegal gambling place on Lyell without some background info

No, I didn't make it out. Got real busy with friends and family for the holidays. Definitely interested in what goes on there. I have my buddy who plays a lot of live games in Rocha, lives in Irondequoit. I will write him to see if he ever played that room.
