Poker Hiatus over. First tourney back; I go down in flames
Hey Chiptalk
I hope I'll be posting regularly again. What a strange couple years it has been.
I went to the Quinalt Indian Reservation, Ocean Shores WA, last weekend and entered the daily tourney. I needed to get back in the game. I haven't played live poker in almost two years. It is about time I got back.
The card room itself was mediocre. 3 Tables, crummy chips.
The dealer at least was decent.
The buy-in was $25 . Top 3 get money and not much at that.
5000 chips opening blinds 100/200 12 minute levels.
The first level I was card dead. I folded and limped once.
The second blind level opened 200/400. I had ace king off. I raised to 1000
I had 2000 and change left. Button called, then SB went all in. I went all in too and the Button called. The Button had QJ, and SB had Aces. I thought at least I would have a shot at the side pot.
Table came Q 6 4 10 6, I lose the main pot and side pot and that was that.
I should have known better than to call.
It felt good to be playin again. I'm moving to a new house in a few days. I am not far from the Muckleshoot Casino too.
Perhaps I will have a cash game soon.

Reason: I originally had the SB and Button calling out of order.

There's a local Chiptalk meet up this weekend at UW's. Check some of my old posts or maybe the home game thread.

start with 5k and the second level blinds are 200/400??? it is never, ever, ever, ever, ever (etc) wrong to get it in with AK there. dude had aces, big deal, you can't fold after you open for a third of your stack with AK. your raise size was pretty much right. could prob get away with a min-raise with the same effect, but you're still getting your money in with AK even if you open to 800, so who cares. you played good and got unlucky that a guy woke up with AA.

I totally agree. With such hyper blinds (I mean, you only start with 25bb), there is no way you fold. Heck, even if everyone at the table pushes, I am most likely calling there.
Sometimes poker is all about luck.

That makes me feel better about it. I was hoping to get some more hands in. Easy come easy go.
