Can't wait to hear about it, have fun!

Except for the mountains, I could live in Colorado the rest of my life. This is a chipper's paradise...well, except for all the casinos that have gotten rid of their chips.
About to go down and give the tables a try; Jambine is there too, hopefully he's doing well. Wish me luck. |

I do wish you loads of luck during your time in Colorado. Have a fabulous time and also enjoy all that great scenery. Look forward to a trip report when you return.

We checked out of the Midnight Rose yesterday morning, but not before catching up with Jambine and giving him a hat for good luck. Not that he needed it; he was kicking butt at the table while we were there. We made plans on going to Pike's Peak on their Cog Railway, and meeting Jambine afterwards to follow him to his cabin.
Problem is, I have asthma, and I'm a flatlander. The mountain kicked my butt. By the time we got to the top (14,000+ feet), I thought I was going to pass out. So Michael took pictures for me while I sat in the gift shop trying not to show my fellow passengers what I had for breakfast...in reverse.
We got safely down the mountain, met Jambine along the road (if I didn't say it before, I hate mountains), and followed him in the dark around more twisty curves to his house. We tried to not wake up Jambine's mother, but she greeted us warmly and made us feel at home right away. Of course, Jam and I had to play show-and-tell; he showed me his chips, I showed him mine, and we did some horse trading. Unfortunately, I was beat again, so I crashed early, hoping to spend more time with Jam and his folks this morning.
Let me tell you, Jambine has the greatest parents ever. Mama Jam is the sweetest, funniest woman, and I instantly fell in love with her. Pops is also way cool, and had great stories for us. Mama even sat in with us in a 5-25 spread limit HE cash game with me, Michael, and Jambine. Michael was surprised that we played for cash ("You're gonna take money from your MOTHER?"), but Mama Jam was no easy mark, no sirree. She kept the three of us on our toes, and even pointed out a tell she picked up on me.
Of course, I had to use that tell against my opponents, and pulled off a sweet bluff. I decided to try the bluff when Michael was the single blind (I was seated to his right) and Jam, who was to Michael's left, folded. Mama Jam limped in, and I bumped it to 30 to go. I figured Michael would call, and he did; Mama, seeing my now-false tell, folded. I knew that, regardless of what came on the flop, I'd have to hit it hard; which is exactly what I did when the flop came K-x-x rainbow. Michael - who played way, way better than I gave him credit for - folded, and I triumphantly showed my 7-3 off to the table.
Once Mama decided to cash in, we switched to Crazy Pineapple, my favorite non-standard poker variant. I even managed a Kh-high straight flush, delivering a bad beat to Jam's boat; Michael, who had 2 pair, even followed me down that road. Man, I Crazy Pineapple.
Unlike my sound thrashing at The Rose on Saturday, I came away victorious from our $5 buy-in game, with a net profit of $9. Hey, it's a start.
The casinos at Central City and Black Hawk, await tomorrow.
(BTW Nana, the Nana store was closed Sunday too; I looked inside the window, and didn't see anything inside with your name on it, sorry). |

BTW, I looked at your collection online and see that you have some pretty neat stuff! I loved the mongrammed clay chips, need to get me some of those and spell "NanaBanana"! I'll be leaving in a couple of days on vacation again, so hope to read more fascinating news here about your trip when I return. Enjoy!

-If a local player gives you advice on where the juciest games are, don't question him; take your money and go play.
Thanks to Jambine, I won all the money back (and then some) at Fortune Valley in Central City today, that I had lost at my namesake casino Saturday. Of course, it helped that I hit sets of Kings twice in a game, as well as a nicely turned straight; but more than anything, it's because No Fold-em Hold-em, is alive and well in the lovely state of Colorado.
We just got off the road after a very long day of gaming and chip harvesting (I'm proud to say, I got something from every open casino in Cripple Creek, Central City, and Black Hawk), and I'm beat. I'll try to post something tomorrow, wherever we land in Missouri or Kansas. Hopefully, somewhere near a casino. |

Glad to hear you're having a good time and nice rebound at the tables.
If you happen to pass thru St. Louis, I recently heard about a new casino that just opened.
Lumie're Place Casino & Hotel
999 North 2nd Street
and there's the
President Casino on the Admiral
Laclede's Landing, just north of the Arch
I hope your good luck continues | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
